    functionality problem

hi ppl. i was wondering does anyone have problems with working out the functionality of your designs?
i always find myself wringing my brain just to work out how everything works, the reason something is there, etc, in my designs.

for example, i come up with an idea. i try to do thumbnails of that idea. i see one i quite like. i try to further develop its look, adding features, modifying the shape. i think its starting to look quite nice. BUT THEN, i start thinking why the stuff on the design is there. wat is it used for? does it need the feature? could it hinder movement? is it too heavy? is it redundant? does it have structure?

i try to work out the functionality. but with every solution comes a new set of problems. i could spent days just trying to find the appropriate solutions/uses for the stuff i put in my design just to make sure everything works logically with as little loopholes as possible.

of course, i have a theme for my designs. and i design my ideas to suit that theme. its functional at first. but when i start to enhance it, the functionality problems start kicking in.

so does anyone worry about the functionality of their designs? do you work out the functionality so that there are no loopholes? if so, is it easy for you? or is functionality a small aspect of the design and does not need that much attention?
please answer me because i would like to know wat the situation is like with everybody. and wat should i focus more on? functionality? or should i just screw functionality and do watever i want?

    sorry for the long post...

yo dude.......long time no see , this being the last day of freedom i have before going into the army, heres my opinion:

it all depends on the genre of the subject. if its fantasy based, loosen up on function, but do keep a bit of practical sense about it. you wouldnt want a piece of armour thats super cool looking but leaves little space for movement.

when you have the idea firmly grasped in your head, you could either go with the flow or try to work out all the details b4 you continue. try both methods, and see if which one appeals to you more. me, i usually go with the flow nowadays, because once i start detailing something, it often comes out as super detailed but lacking in cohesiveness.

thats all i have to say right now...and for the next 3 months, btw nice gif...lol
    3yrs to go......
