Hey dude! Man, put attatch your avatar to your first post, then it won't be so easy to miss this thread - I'm always looking at the pictures instead of the titles lol.

Really like this one, some really good qualities to it. Water colours are looking good, try to restrict yourself to as little colours possible, or else keep them fairly pale. Right now the colours are kinda fighting in the page. Apart from each panel, the entire page should have a good composition too.

But good progress man, thanks for sharing.

hey there! didn't see the new sketchbook for quite a while, sorry about that. great start, i really like the master studies and the coloring of the last page works great! good to see you're constantly working of your range of tools... can't help you with the water colors, though, i'm such a noob with them...

hmm, maybe someone else has already mentioned it, but anyway: the master studies have a good range of values, but maybe the contrast between the really soft pencil and the harder ones is too much? maybe you could use a slightly harder one for the dark tones... and for the rendering (which i like, but i know you don't): it always helps me to sometimes switch to a toned paper. that way you have all the mid-tones already there and can concentrate on the highlights and darks...
anyway, like that new book a lot! cheers

really liking the linework in these, fresh and strong.
Work some on your faces, and maybe spend some more time on your sketches.
These look a little rushed,
think you can make them go a lot further with some more time mate!

really like that pirate dude, fun and well captured!
Your colours are coming along, like the play off between yellow and blue you've got going in that comic page, works well.
Remember the effective repetition of colours can unfiy a piece or page!

keep up the good work and studies, mate! study every second of everyday. you know those 30 minutes you reply on CA (like i'm doing now lol) could be used to study objects in your house or just the lighting of things and maybe even anatomy. nice comic...cheers!! ;]

really digging the bg in the last one.
Been far too long since I've worked with watercolours for me to crit this meaningfully, but I'd say try to show form more clearly with the paints.

Go check out zhuzhu's thread, I think he still posted some of his watercolours in there.
If not, pm me and I'll go getcha a link with some of his watercolours.
They're really outworldly and something to strive for.

Hi bhanu Thank you for the high rating. Lookin over your SB. Lotsa of cool ideas flowing through, keep that up. Tame some of that wonderful energy with a bit of construction set-ups for your figures. Things like, rib cage spheres and hip boxes. Immensely helpful when setting figures in turning poses and in perspective space. But I know you are working on that. Will be popping in to see progress. Good stuff.

Lookin good with the anatomy studies man, good that you get to it! The bully comics quality could be a tad higher as mr magic said, seing how the quality on your other stuff beats it kindof alot actually. But I do like it, the story is cool and the crazy coloring is pretty sweet! I'd recommend more life n anatomy drawings. No revolutionary advise, I know, but its always good, I should try it sometime myself. Well good stuff mister, I'll be back.

good improvement in this SB...maybe the comic pages need to be much more refined, and you could do that by spending more time working on them.Try and use a regular lettering too.Sketches show improvement in poses and anatomy.keep sharing

Props on the elephant bro - looks like an Indian Elephant.
The ones here in Africa look a bit different, slightly bigger I think, slightly more stupid too (which is I think why they usually use Indian Elephants in the Circus haha).
The forms aren't flowing as nicely as they could though - I think this will be solved if spend some more time on it.

Water colour is very interesting and I think you may be on to something with them.
Keep doing them and see where the take you!

Hey man. nice SB goin' on here. Your willingness to experiment with colours is something to be admmired... hmmm... I should try that sometime. colours, colours... hehh.

I really like the elephant in your latest post, as well "The Ring" inspired watercolour. Try not to load your brush with too much paint when watercolour-ing; my favourite part about using watercolours is doing washes and subtle details; subtle changes in tone etc

Your comic/storyboarding looks good too. Methinks you should do some face studies - from different angles, different expressions etc.

You've improved muchly since you've started - keep it up!

the thing about watercolor is that it's very tough to control. oftentimes you just gotta let it do what it wants to do. that's where all the happy accidents happen.

In that batman piece you're using the color as a graphic element. all the color is isolated. if you were to wet one edge with clean water as the paint is drying you'd get a smoother transition. Another thing to try is to lay down a wash of water to a certain area or shape and then hit it with color and see what it does.

several things i'm seeing in your stuff is your reluctancy to mix colors before you put them down (using colors strait out of the tube) and the use of crappy (or cheap) colors. That yellow is atrocious. there's a use for it but is small doses. same goes for your blues and your greens.

also, try for more saturated colors. everything you have is so diluted with water that it becomes monotone. there's no point of interest or something to jump out at you.

With the little knowledge I have, I second that. Maybe try to be more aggressive and rough with your watercolours, rather than being precise and controlled. Keep at it dude!
