In that batman piece you're using the color as a graphic element. all the color is isolated. if you were to wet one edge with clean water as the paint is drying you'd get a smoother transition. Another thing to try is to lay down a wash of water to a certain area or shape and then hit it with color and see what it does.
several things i'm seeing in your stuff is your reluctancy to mix colors before you put them down (using colors strait out of the tube) and the use of crappy (or cheap) colors. That yellow is atrocious. there's a use for it but is small doses. same goes for your blues and your greens.
also, try for more saturated colors. everything you have is so diluted with water that it becomes monotone. there's no point of interest or something to jump out at you.
