^^ that's looking really great dude, makes me think a little of Phil Hale. But i don't think you're quite done. The background isn't helping you yet - I think you can give the whole thing one or two washes, just to unify the colours. Are you using acrylics? In between washes, when the painting is dry, get some sanding paper and sand down some areas - then paint over them again. It's a cool way to get some of the colours you used earlier to reappear again. Should those colours become too strong, just give it another wash. Also use some washes to darken the edges - it'll help focus the contrast in the middle a little more and give the painting some atmosphere I think. Another thing you might try is working some things like pieces of paper or cardboard into the painting - to help define some shapes. Other thing that might give you some cool texture is just sprinkling a little sand into to paint whilst its still wet. Sanding it down when it's dry again also results in a specific texture.

Cool stuff man, I like your sketches.

I especially like "BLOATED" - shows great potential of your style, but it isn't quite there yet IMO. The anatomy strikes me often as odd, which is of course partly intentional, but some other things feel like unintentional. So maybe putting some more care in some brushstrokes would help. Especially where different shapes connect. Being more thoughtful doesn't necessarily mean it has to end up rigid. I think a main problem is the values - the comparison somebody brought up about Phil Hale is true, but even though he also does twisted stuff, he is very very careful about the values he uses. To be a bit more specific: On "Bloated" the pectoralis major muscles are too strongly shaded for being so directly turned to the light. And the trousers in "Pseudo self portrait" are a good example of things that could use a bit more care. They take a lot of attention without being really the main subject (I guess )

But yeah, besides the nitpicking : Your work has a lot of power - very inspiring.

I was trying to create something....trying to keep my drawing alive through the process...trying to give depth to the painting...emotionally and physically...havent gotten anywhere with anything...but I think its a good stepping stone..towards my own style in painting..and subject matter....
