Collage Robots/ Photoshop Stuff/ The Corporate

This robot was designed for a project, but in the end I chose not to use him...so every once in a while I'll do somthing interesting with him.

It has also spawned other ideas using the same collage-like style.

    Plane Bot

I found an image, on-line, of an unfinished airplane: chopped it up and assembled it in Photoshop.

    process

The key is to stay as organized as possible, and waiting until the end to start merging layers and adding color.

I found that by starting with a skeleton helps solve many a problems. It also helps you see your vision clearly. The possible styles of the template/skeleton are endless.

When making a skeleton it's best to shoot your own pictures because if you have a specific pose/action/viewpoint in mind all you have to do is shoot the appropriate viewpoint.
(only takes one trip to a hardware store and a few bucks)

I have started developing quite a few, which range from different viewpoints to completely different structures.

Impressive work especialy with the robots that have transformed from motorbikes etc.

Its very complex and good work to do robots transformed from a vehicle.

    just awsome
realy to me i think one of the most overlooked commodites in this industry is raw creative thinking!
that is to say creative ideas, aproaches and techniques....but shit you got it.
even in terms of the discussion about this technique we have on my wip blog...no one else is doing this technique the way you are...
    totaly your own...

Very cool idea with collaging together the robots from photos. My only crit is that they seem confusing. I think the repetition of using the same parts creates a pattern that makes them appear somewhat flat and functionless. Basically I would work on simplifying your designs. I think you've got a great technique, but it just needs to be taken to the next level.

Don't worry it's coming. With every creation it becomes more refined and structured...forcing myself to be less lazy.

that last black white and red piece is really cool. I appreciate the skill required for the others, but they kinda remind me of video games with poor textures.

that last comment didn't really help. I think your use of semi opaque copies of the robots for presentation purposes, and too much background blurring detracts from the awesomeness of the pieces. Your colour schemes are also a little sharp for me.

These pieces are mostly me playing around with collage techniques and color theory, which is not very characteristic of me. In the past my colors were all muted and had a more realistic look to them. I have found that my learning curve is the greatest when I experience both extremes and then decide on a medium that is to my liking.

I have started incorporating more texture though...and logical placement of parts. ex. joints and muscles.
