Where in the world is The CA online Sketcher program? I can't find it anywhere but I keep on hearing about it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Well I never use it anyways..
Sorry fella's Sketcher is a commercial product now and lacking any sort of license or agreement we are not allowed to keep it. It was fun while it lasted.
If you crave it though, the site it originated from is at http://www.artgrounds.com and you could probably fill your Sketcher needs from there.
We tried but there's furry artists there.

No wonder..I went in there a few days ago and the 10 people there had absolutely no clue what concept art was...and they were drawing awkward kitty people.............
;.; I wish we did have some fun little drawing aplications for all of us to enjoy! ...We can only stuff so many people in OC! (4).

Plenty, it's just time and money that are amiss in the equation.
IRC chat and Open Canvas are the next best thing. Download Warpaint for better network performance.

Es läuft mir aus den Ohren, Herz und Nieren sind Motoren
OC doesn't work on my computer anymore :/
Warpaint seems to be discontinued?

writing this kind of application isn't done in one day. especially if you want it to be good, if you want some bells and whistles like pressure sensitivity and brushes that look good. not to mention network support for more than a few clients.Originally Posted by 0shade0

Warpaint isn't completely dead. The source has been made open and released for anyone who wants to go at it. (It's somewhere at SourceForge, last I've heard.) Unfortunately, I'm only an end user and have no clue about programming java involving a web client. Let's hope some developer-type finds the thing and is willing to pick up on it. Not really dead, but more like "on-ice".
As for sketcher, 'tis a shame it's gone.I had fun watching and then bouncing ideas off of much better artists. It was like a point - counterpoint improv session, but with doodles instead of music. Well, at least when there were willing and friendly artists about. (There were always a few folks that liked to hog the canvas- Why not just use PS/Gimp and solo then? And some others would take it way too serious.)
OpenCanvas 1.1 is still a viable (although limited) option, even without the easy to use Warpaint server hosting service. Everything for networking is still in oC, but now its a matter of planning ahead instead of just clicking on an active session. I guess we could stop at the IRC perhaps start a side channel specifically for getting networked oC1.1 art jam going?
aww thats crap... was gettin into sketcher too.. met some nice guys like KIWI! hehtoo bad

I'm so sad to hear this.I loved this app.
I tried Artground before... it sucks.
It's an improved version they say, but much worse than 1.0 (for me)
sciboy: what do you mean by commercial product?
Who should buy this (and for how much) if not a forum like CA?
![]()
I don't know if it's actually possible to buy/license it yet. I guess they would want CA to buy it if/when they decide to sell it. But then they'll need to be able to provide some kind of support for it, and it will have to be somewhat good too. There are lots of things to consider if you actually want to sell something like this. And, of course, lots of things to consider if you're planning to buy something...Originally Posted by kynu

we should just talk to corel. get them to work on an online painter or sumthing. They are always at the workshops, and always lookin for new ideas. or set up an open canvas battlezone or sumthin.
There's Oekaki Shi Painter, it's got very similar feeling to OpenCanvas. I forgot if that's the one with multi-user support.
2draw.net has some nice online painting applications. but most of them are one user base instead of multi user.
daaaaaaaamnit!
Hmmm, there's always Shi-chan. A japanese pchat program. Works well.
