The sp came out cool but not so sure about the bit under your eye, maybe just the lighting but doesnt quite feel like that eye is sitting inside some flesh. Coool colours tho! keep it rockin!
Those black and quite designs on the last page were pretty striking, good job on those, its nice to break things up with different styles hey? Still haven't messed around with Alchemy much.
The digital stuff is coming along too - the hippo was fun.
When doing skin, if you make the highlight section too flat (a large areas highlight all one tone) it can make the surface feel more like plastic.

kidult : Thanks mate, couldn´t agree more
Jakers : Thanks mate for pointing these things out. Wakeup call
LAL : thank you!
Sooo, been, and still am super busy. Not only do I have tons of schoolwork to do, but I also have to take on extra shifts at my one jobs seeing many have taken leave to study for their exams.
But, I have been keeping the selfportraits going, and have been doing them daily actually. Gonna really try and keep it up, and see what crazy stuff I get from experimenting. So Don´t always expect accurate portraits. Here they are at least, other stuff will have to come once I get more time.

Quickly popping in here. Been busy now, but seems I´m getting a little break this weekend. Gonna spend it on my friends, reading, self portraits and eventually my birthday.
Here´s yesterdays SPOD, and some fast blocking in from movie screens.

ThomasM - Thanks mate. I´m not oo sure about time. Try not to focus so much on that doing these. But some were superfast (15min), while other may surpass an hour or more. I remember I struggled like a bitch with the one from 3:10 to Yuma, with all those characters. DAMN.

Very cool.
Would you be interested in joining in on some Warhammer 40,000-related projects (Actually "Epic", which uses the same game setting but smaller models and is designed for adults rather than kids) I am involved in from time to time?
The last one I worked on was this Siege book : http://www.epic.host56.com/files/Epi...2dpi-v1.16.zip (You may need to resume the download once or twice, server is unreliable).
We're always on the lookout for artists who want to lend their help and see their art used in a professional-looking format.
Noobie : I´m guessing these are non-paying projects? Not that it matter right now. I am so busy lately with school, and my two jobs. So I am going to have to give it a pass for now. Though if you are still interested, you could try and contact me in july/august. I got more time then. Best of luck.

Man I've very impressed with your variety in rendering on your portraits! Seriously makes them that much more interesting to look at...do you get specific rendering ideas from anywhere, or just think it up on your own?
Are some traditional lately, or maybe painter? Such as the last blue image in #501?
The very last one, and mentioned blue image are among my faves.
Portfolio: http://www.jakecollinge.com
all those new sp's look sweet.
the experimentation you got going in them is really helping you to move forward!
the new scratchy looking one is my favourite. and for some reason the blue, pretty simple looking one from May 17th. simple BUT effective I mean.
good work buddy.
Jakers : Well the whole reason I started these was because of Andrew Jones. He has always been one of my fav. But my ideas come pretty much by themselves. That´s what I have learned of them. Living in the painting. I put on music, and start drawing. The ideas come during the process, and experimentation. Like the one from May 22, I just started with those random straight lines in the background, and thought of it as a metal wall or something. The ladder just came along later.
Aye, many of these are often (not always) started of with a simple sketch which I have scanned in. May 23, 24, 27 are Mainly the sketch with few adjustments. I use 80-90% Painter, and rest Photoshop for these.
monotony : thank you! Means lots and lots

I really like the ones from 25th and 27th of May. On the other hand I think it will be beneficial to use more time and really push yourself to the limit of your skills. Sketches are great, but it's also sometimes necessary to make it polished. That has helped me improve the last period, so I guess it might help you too. Anyway, I hope you keep doing the SPs, and I wish you good luck.
zelda_geek : thanks mate. I agree and I disagree. Aye one should def push oneself to their very limit, and beyond. But these SPOD´s are... hmm different. They are personal kind of. My little project of experimentation, of letting everything go, either I have only 15min, or several hours (Last few days its been the few minutes... ). I try to let my mind wonder off into the abyss, and let my hand and emotions take control. I can honestly say that this has really baffled me many times over. I am learning so much, just by looking at myself in the mirror - (yes it sounds fucking weird), but yeah. This truly is a journey I want to stay on for as long as possible. I´m just looking forward to the summer
