    Long time no post

Been awhile but I've gotten on my ass again so I scanned some pieces from the end of 06 to now.

VV---Wasn't so happy with this one---VV

    This page was fun

Those were some of my sketches from Jan to Marchish?
    Heres some more recent

I bought a new pen for art rather than the crappy ballpoint ones that faded and smudged ink. Mainly because I was inspired by Sinix

And of course my favorite pieces: attack of the lined paper ZOMG!

    Damn that took awhile

    Thanks seth & maxetormer

Some quick paint in sketcher, I've only done a few paintings so I think I'm going to start doing more sketches in B&W and color.

Cool stuff Kvick. You've got some pretty interesting ideas in your sketches. If you work more life you will improve much faster.

It's good that your starting in black and white values are important. Keep working

Great sb dude, lots of cool ideas. Your portraits are really getting strong, and I'm a fan of strong contrast so I love to see the range of value developing in your work. Keep up with the studies.

KanoaRogers: Thanks, I think I need to start doing some more life studies, I just have a lot more fun working from the mind or from other artists.

nilaffle: Thanks, I try to make the values as accurate as possible when I draw from photos or life, but usually the outcome depends on how much effort I feel like putting into it or if I like how it's turning out.

Zombie_dla:Thanks man, I used to learn from loomis but I never got too much into it. I think I have some pages of copied loomis pages in my first sketchbook. I never could get used to the skeleton stick figure before fleshing the figure out though.

The drawings except Mydrim's awesome Valkyrie and Call0ps' trippy eyes, are mine

It's great to see how much you've improved. I like you hand sketch in the '02 MAY' post, and the furry/hairy coat on the last but one image ^^'

Maturin thanks, which post exactly are you referring to?

Me and this guy who hasn't posted on ca yet but has an account, UNiT_22, made a sorta collaboration over sketcher, but I feel I can only really take credit for the ideation and thumb of the character.

    My original thumb

    UNiT's embellishment

UNiT started a sketchbook aft my excessive nagging actually it was more like a few hours and not too much nagging, but here it is anyways! http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=97316

    now some sketches:

    reffed, primarily an abdomen study

I just did these character designs, I realized that I've been trying to sketch things too fast when I'm still way too nubby, especially with my anatomy, so I took a deep breath and slowed down. Plus I'm horrible at femmes so I need to draw more .

    I like this one a lot: http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...z/5-1-07/9.jpg

Thanks for your gesture advice over on my sb. Very nice examples you've found there, and I think looking at things like that has already helped.

One idea for you: when you scan pages from your physical sketchbook, insert a piece of blank paper behind the page you're about to scan. That will keep images on the next page from bleeding through a bit.
Take a look at my series of in-depth critiques, like this one of Salvador Dali's hidden portrait of Lincoln.

Scott's Sketchbook: Check out my sketchbook. Will swap C&Cs.

UПiT_22: Thanks, I really try to improve in my rendering and shading with pencil, so when my line work starts to shine it'll finally pay off.

scottmcd: Thanks, hope the advice helped . And yeah, I need to get some blank paper to fix that little problem, just a laziness thing.

I don't feel I correctly drew attention to this guy's face in this, oh well, I don't feel like redoing it atm. Plus I kind of wish I didn't do it on lined for once .

    Small update

After rereading prom's guide I have a much better understanding of color and light, still a bit fuzzy in some areas but I think I have a much better idea than before.

I really don't like how I draw small faces and I feel like I don't have a great grasp of it, so I'm going to be working on this a lot in the next week or so, copying off other artists.

Forgot to bring my sketchbook to school today :X
I'm now going to minimalize the load time on my newer sketches as well as make them more organized for easier viewing. Plus it'll help get me more comfortable with other PS tools besides brushes. This was 3 scans.

a little hawkprey inspired stuff in here.

I'm going to do a lot more face studies, I didn't like a lot of the faces I tried to draw today :|

Thanks for reminding me about that, helped me understand light much more.

I'm focusing a lot more on my line quality with my pencils now and trying to improve there. Not so much in this however, but I'm busy and can't scan right now.
