You seem to have a good sense of monochromatic scales in your digi paintings. Cool stuff

Hi, nice to have met you on Sketcher...

Very nice, so far... I noticed that you dislike drawing the face... It can be a bit difficult to draw, unless you know what to look for... I would like to suggest some studies of the bones that make up the greater forms of the body... As an example; your portrait would definatly improve with studies of the skull and the muscles that work underneith, this coupled with some self portraits or portraits of friends and with time you will find that your portraiture will become just that much better...

Another thing with the painting of the blue swordsman... I would highly recommend that you try out using a complimentary background... like with that a dark orange/earth tone... It might give you an interesting experiment.

Keep on goin, I'll definately be watchin...

Try out some skull studies. It's amazing how much easier drawing the body becomes when you become familiar with the underlying framework.

Emm, the animals need a lot more work though. It's no different studying animals to humans, - start off with the skeleton, lots of studies and gestures from observation. If you know how bones and muscle interact, the surface stuff becomes easier.

    Keep trying!

Thankies coaananan, my animals do look terrible, I just randomly draw them when I'm bored plus I have trouble finding free animal skele refs :X.

heres a noref face, just testing out cs3, I personally think it runs much better on my system than cs2 does and doesn't crash, yet...

mmmmmm dunno why but cs3 seems a lot more fun than two for some crazy reason, or maybe it's just that I haven't done a painting in a real prog in awhile.

Hey guy, thanks for the comment and encouragement. I see you're still working on your art, even though you've been MIA in irc for a while. www.itchstudios.com/psg is where you need to go now. Listen to what Prometheus has to say about color theories and all that, and then go to Idiot Apathy's mentor thread and join in. Since you're ready for this leap, or you assume you are, these are opportunities and great resources that you cannot pass on.

    Thanks again and keep trucin

Thanks for the comment, first I've received in a bit ;P, yeah I've read prom's guide a few times, I haven't fully understood everything in there but I'm working on it. As for the mentoring thread, I've never even seen that before :X or the whole new mentor section, I'll get to work on it :3.

metallic things are harder to paint than I thought :X

Rebecca K: yeah I like that quote

Been really busy lately, with school and I started studying psychology a ton recently in my free time... like hour after hour, it's opened my mind to a lot of things I've never really thought about before.

Anyways, being busy is never enough of an obstacle to stop me from drawing... though painting maybe :X.

hey man! great start for being 16... when doing skin tones, it's important to remember that a skin is not just one saturated color. Try pulling up a GOOD photo of someone (preferably nekkid and with one light source) and use photoshops eye droppper tool, open the color dialog box (set it to hsb mode)and use the picker to see where in the color spectrum the skin tones are. Graze over the image starting from the shadow towards the most lit area and see how the sliders adjust themselves as you move towards the light.

I have no idea how well you know your way around photoshop so for the sake of learning I'll assume you don't know much : ) which is why I made the accompaning images...

This is just an easy simple way to study color. There are tons of other way that will train your eye to see color and apply paint so experiment!

Keep it up dude : )

Hey thanks man, I'm pretty comfortable with PS so the images weren't necessary but I appreciate the effort . I stopped skintones for a little since my last post, and just kept doodling, but I'm going to get back on it now.

quick sketch so that this post wasn't so empty

Sounds like you were looking for trouble amigo, every artist should be humble and it is not your place to judge how other artist, like yourself wish to draw or what they pursue... The dragon may have looked gay to you but to him it was fun. Remember this and you will be a better artist for it!

On the subject of your sketchbook I like " Fucken hair on the scanner" may that be the title? ^^ I believe thats your best piece yet, nice improvement. Just watch the ego.

haha, maybe I was looking for trouble on a subconscious level, but more for finding an interesting person to talk to rather than the hollow people you find on there.

Tried to get into some color stuff. C&C always appreciated
