Hey, i really like your work!

What you draw e.g. your japanese figures, do you have a load of reference in front of you or does it just come from memory? Im impressed with the sense of authenticity you get into these pictures, even though they are fantastical.

    Cool!

    Oh dear god-
That wee sculpture you made has a hell of allot of personality to it... Did you put varnish on it's manky teeth and gums?
If so, I admire the dedication.

Anyways, keep up the good work. xD

8bit Generally I do a lot of research if it's something that I know little about. There were subtle things that I needed to observe within the japanese culture such as which way the kimono folds, otherwise the person could be dressed for a burial. Looking at japanese patterns, clothing, trinkets etc helps to build more of an understanding, even if the illustration is fictitious.
I was a little too indepth though I have to say. Once I'm creating it's usually all from my head. I also listen to relevant music, so I listened to a lot of kabuki stuff, noh plays and what not, or because the subject matter was dark I would listen to depressing music. It sounds strange but it gets me into the correct mindset. The same with the Mexican wrestlers, I listened to mexican stuff. I really try and push for atmosphere.

Naidy Oooh yes I had to varnish the teeth! Thanks for the kind words.

Couple of studies and a character called Mr Creep.

Loved the skin on the pestilent zombie(?)
Again I'm impressed by the fact you've even given it weeping puss coming out of it's numerous sores. xD
I find the face on the girl really nicely done too. Maybe you could give her some weeping sores too- Aha, just kidding.

    Though actually, might be interesting.....

    Anyways! Good work, mate.

What an excellent pair of characters! I much prefer your work now you're defining the shapes more than you used to, but you still have a lot of loose marks which give it energy. Both poses seem grounded and have pretty good balance, the troll is particulalry nice and round, I love the way you've painted his anatomy under a layer of flab, really nice effect.

I want to see more females now please Mr Man.

Wow mate, what a mountain of hard works! In just 12 page you already have good digital painting skill! I'm taking interest in learning painting approach now, I think I'll watch your sb pages and maybe I'll get some inspiration about how to practice it (I skipped around in your sb page, only saw half of it because I got class to rush. Gotta check each one of em later)

I don't have any crits, but I am hoping your WIP gets a reaallly creepy face. It'd go well with that ragged coat.

Naidy Yes I'm trying to produce a very horrible face. Having real trouble with it at the moment actually. Spent about an hour changing the face and yet yielding no results. I'll probably go for something similar to mr creep, need to sleep on it, it's one of those evenings.

BluezAce For learning about painting I highly recommend painting everyday objects. Once you get a feel for how to manipulate things start to make more sense. Although it's not easy. Also do take note that this sb has been ongoing for some years now, it didn't happen overnight. Thanks for popping by

I'm not sure whether to call this image done or not. I recently setup a dual monitor thingy on my laptop so I'm not too sure if the colours/value etc are correct....hmm..
