hey airage. i know ur work from the digitalartforum , some very nice enviros. i like em a lot. maybe u should try using a more desaturated palette, and only for them details some supersaturated colors (like u did in the nightshot with the cars). this helps to lead the viewers eye. just my 2 cents. anyway, nice stuff, keep posting.

    oma - Thank you

Spade - Well, i think there's not much to say. I'm 22, living in Germany and hopefully getting accepted for a course of study in 2007 or 2008. Still not sure what do do exactly. Sadly, there aren't much choices of where and what to study for me
So i'm recently just jobbing to get the dues paid and work as hard as i can in my freetime to get a better portfolio and improve

    Asoir - Thanks!

Kicek - Hey there! Thank you a lot for the input, i think this will help a lot. I'll try to follow your advice

Wow! I'm loving the city scapes, as well as the japanese scene looks good too. Out of those last four, the fourth one looks the best.

Very nice enviro piece dude. I especially like the clean worked out ones in the first post.

As a crit I'd have to say to work more on your sketchy rendering since your looser pieces don't really feel like solid sketches, but more like WIPs. I'd also be careful with colors, because (especially inthe first pic) they overwhelm the actual content.

    Looking forward to more posts.

Thank you for the kind words & motivation.
dfacto - Thank you a lot for the helpfull input, i think i know what you mean. I hope to get a better feeling for brushstrokes and simplification when i practice more

Here's some more or less quick stuff, around 2 hours, the city one with help of Photoreference. And an attempt at doing some little sketches to throw color on later... but i miserabely failed, need to paint quicker and loosen up. That''s pretty hard for me...
I'd love to hear some critique, be as harsh as you want.

I try more smaller and faster sketches, but already catched myself detailing too much again
Anyways, lots of wip's...the line-thing is a little older, i'll try to color it later. And another attempt at matte painting techniques for that huuuge city... very original, i know but it's practice

Please, i would love to hear some help critiques

nice sketchbook...these are some really cool environment sketches...so keep on posting as much as you can btw: i noticed that you are alo from germany...kommt ja auch nich so oft vor

and i also have some critique for you:

    1) the chinese gate in the first sketch is out of place composition wise....the viewer will look at the person on the balcony and follow the perspective lines towards the center of the image...but this gate is blocking his view to explore the city any further

    2) the sun stands very low in the mega-city shots.......which would result in strong cast shadows
