Wasp My trip to Japan (lots of pictures)

It's been awhile since I last posted at CA, so I guess I'll start out by sharing this. Mid-July I spent nine days in Tokyo. My brother had been there for close to a year studying at Waseda University, so I decided to go visit him and to see what this Japan place was that I had been hearing about. I had a really good time, and I know I'll be going back. But first I need to learn the language so I'll be able to interact with the people.

During the trip I spent the whole time travelling to different parts of Tokyo. I also made one excursion to Mount Fuji.

This is a view outside of my brother's apartment. I'm not sure what the area is name, but it's right next to Waseda's campus, and about a twenty minute walk to Takadanobaba station.

These are from a park in Shinjuku.

This is the city part of Shinjuku.

I think this is the Honda River. It's right outside from where I was staying.

I can't remember where these are from.

The next seven pictures are from Asakusa.

We took a boat ride back from there. We passed this interesting looking thing.

I saw a lot of these guys on the riverside. I think they're homeless.

The next three are right outside of the Hamarikyu park.

This is the start of the hike up Mount Fuji. We were thinking of going to the top, but my heart wouldn't have any of it, so we didn't get far. I don't know if the elevation was too high, or what.

    Shot from Takadanobaba Station.

These next two I took from Tokyo Tower.

    Some weird spider-like statue.

This is a main shopping street at Ginza.

I took some more pictures at Harajuku and Shibuya, but with my brothers camera because I forgot mine. He hasn't gotten around to transferring them yet, so I can't post them unfortunately. I also took a few quick movies.Nothing much to see, though, I mainly took them to get the sounds of Tokyo.

In this first one I was walking around on a small shopping street and there was a few people playing music to advertise something. They kept moving down the street, so I didn't get as close a shot as I wanted.

Here's the train coming in at Takadanobaba Station. The music you can hear in the background is from Astro Boy. It always plays when a train is coming in.

I can't remember where this is from. I thought I had kept the video going longer, but I guess not.

I had pretty bad jet lag for a week after I returned, which isn't normal for me. Sometimes I find myself wishing I was walking around Tokyo streets for lunch instead of being here.

Nice pictures. I like those kind of pictures people take. No exagerated lighting and overly-dynamic angles. Its just simple, realistic images. I always expected Japan to look different, though.

It's amazing how everything is so orderly and has a rythme to itself. Even the urban chaos seems planned and plotted. Like being a great OCD city Thanks for posting !
