Why can't I get an actual grey?

I was colouring a sketch on photoshop, and I discovered that my greys weren't really grey. They had a green tinge to them. I can't get an actual monochrome grey. It's very frusterating.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with this message each time I open this my sketch (because I can get a real grey in a new document (just not this one)

I am not sure what that means or what it wants me to do.

Insight into this would be fantastic. Thanks very much.

re: grey; how old is your monitor?

re: color profile; it's a normal message. sRGB is currently your default ps color profile. You opened, I assume, an image file that was saved with the epson profile (a scanned image?). You can just accept the query to preserve what you see upon opening the file or set your general preferences in edit > color settings > color management policies for other mismatch instances in the future.

Note: art made and saved in one profile will look slightly different when viewed in a browser or graphics app that uses another profile.

Do a forum search, if you want, for previous postings re: color management issues.

okay. so it's normal. thought i was working in the wrong "environment" in order to get that grey I'm looking for.

my monitor is probably a year old, give or take a few months.
