This stuff is decent, but I would recommend trying to conquer realism through life drawing and photo copying. At least try it and see how close you can copy something.

Hey bro!
I really like those studies! great stuff, I dont know if it's because they are rom life or not, but the anatomy is MUCH better than in the sketches before...
You got the technique down, concerning pencilstuff, now comes the anatomy. not only on the body, but also the face...
where does which muscle go and what does it do... where is which bone, how long, etc... knowing these facts will extremely improve your drawing, especially when working without reference...

Hey lema,

Things are looking good in here, you're hitting all the right things, some environments, some portraits, some head studies, characters, and some figurative stuff. My main concern is with the figurative stuff, its all fairly stiff, and kind of repetitive, which can be easily remedied, although it'll take some work. Dig up some reference, a model, preferably, but if you can't, grab yourself one of those little poseable mannikin dudes and do some gestures of him. Put him in all sorts of wonky positions, all spread out, hunched over, thrown back, on its side, laying down, from above, from below, just anything you can think of. Think of the mannikin as a person and as a traditional model, where he might move at any time and he's full of vitality and weight. Use loose lines and just imply his 'movements'. Doing weird exercises like that can really help to give some fluidity to your characters and figures. If possible, try to work in either charcoal or ink, something dark and powerful, so the marks have to be few and thoughtful, but lend themselves to movement.

Hopefully that whole rant will prove to be a useful exercise. Anyhow, throw down some more drawings!

ello chris.. we missed u today , where have u been anyway? as for the update, jan and me are admiring ur lifedrawings at the moment, very good work, uve improved tons! the first one is my fav by far, clean confident lines. as for the colored stuff, id say use less black for the dark parts. the environments are cool, u could add some more atmosphere to most of them though. good work brother, see u on friday maybe?!?! haha shit.. havent done anything yet, röhrl will kill my anus.

love your pen and ink stuff, essp. the landscapes above. try to loosen up with your personal stuff, they are much stiffer (so it seems to me) than the drawings from life. keep at it. =)

Ey bro, great stuff! You do need some little more studies to make stuff even better but you know that right? I can tell by your sweet anatomy studies, just keep on doing studies and your experimental stuff will shine out even more!
