    Conceptmess

Hello, here are some sketchbook beginnings from me, an art student. I anticipate that the work I'll post will be pretty rough in general. Both pieces below are from imagination. I kept them small since a large view isn't needed to get the point.

I was hoping to post pencil drawings from a sketchbook. I will try scanning them soon since I didn't know how to properly photograph them.

Nice start, I know they're sketches but I would work on fleshing tings out a bit more, the style is interesting for sure.

Hey, Neverwhere, welcome to the community! I'm interested where you go to school/what year you're in and what you're currently studying. The main thing that pops out at me is the anatomy of the figures is a bit off, especially in the last one (the arms a bit "spaghetti" like). I'd suggest doing TONS of figure drawing/anatomy studies to really get a grasp on this - as we ALL struggle with it. I certainly know I do. I love seeing the process of an art student, however, so I hope that you stay on the forums and continue to post new things and are able to see your development as you do.

PS - I saw your tumblr blog and how you made mentioned of these pieces as being minimalistic in theme. I really like that and the colors you've chosen to use piece that together quite well. Keep up the good work, sir, and don't be afraid to stop by my sketchbook and say hi.

samoscratch: I agree. I'm looking at my sketches, always trying to figure out how to improve them and turn them into compelling images. I'm very much in the explorative and tentative phase of doing art. I feel if I keep pursuing in the same direction I'll eventually get to an acceptable level of finish and development.

MrFrenik: Thanks for your comment! I am currently studying painting and drawing at Concordia University in Montreal. The teachers are usually interesting but some aren't all that effective at teaching. I am in my second year there, but I also have one additional year of transfer credit from an unrelated program. As for my tumblr blog, my paintings may be minimalist like the design of the blog itself, but the line at the bottom only refers to the pre-made design template I used called "the minimalist theme".

Three hour pose done in acrylic. The first image was taken before the end, I ended up liking the skin more in that one.

Sorry about the reflective paint in the second.

Sketches, all from imagination. I also have less sketchy drawings, yet to be photographed.

Some new sketches, fairly happy with the mountain idea and how the others turned out. Also a 3 hour figure study from life.

nice work....you are a painter....and offcourse you enjoy in your paint ....
never mind what other people said....
but if you work as illustrator you must realise that some things you must change....that why is called illustration to show other people things , accesories...

it is not so interesting as painting but can be interesting in designing things....
    keep it up ............

take it easy and be patient...

marko markovic: Thanks, it was nice to hear your comment. I certainly need to learn to communicate and develop my ideas better. For my own enjoyment it isn't entirely necessary.

    Just a sketch:

Nice to see in the last few posts you're upping your contrast a bit more. Keep observing that anatomy, learning and pushing your limits
