well, its great that you have a backstory... what I'm noticing is that the character has some proportion issues - namely the length of the arm and the width of the leg looks a little thick.

Ok, right, so.. In terms of artwork, you really need to focus on anatomy. Get reference and practice.

Yeah, like the previous posters say, practise drawing figures and anatomy. Poses are important too (her pose looks a bit awkward right now). This link has a ton of good references: http://www.fineart.sk/index.php?cat=1
One more thing to take note of is cloth and how it folds. Check out some tutorials on drapery and practise, practise!
