well this is one of my sets of book shelves, there is another shelf below with photo ref books and anatomy, animal drawing that kinda thing on it.

I waited 6 months for the art of sin city, then fucked it off and bought it from the marketplace it took two days and was 5 quid cheaper than amazon.

p.s. sorry for the shit quality dodgy lighting, too impatient to go get a lamp.

What a coincidence! I just received those two books along with one of Carlos Huante's book a few days ago from Amazon. Two more books to go..

I recommend anyone who's interested in character design to get the Skillful Huntsman book. It's fantastic! Lots of awesome concepts and you get to see how the characters come about from the early block out to the final render. Great book!

Faeries by Brian Froud and Alan Lee

Any of HR Gigers outsize books like Necronomicon i & ii

I'd also venture into historical genius' like Hieronymous Bosch or Pieter Brueghel

and sculpture, ....maybe Andy Goldsworthy, (break away from steampunks and industrial crap for a change)

Was there ever a book of the art of Ico the videogame? that I'd like to see

Great list BTW guys and gals!!

A most recent book I just recieved,

the Concept Art d artiste book with George Hull, Andrew Jones, Nicolas Bouvier, and Vicktor Antonov, this has got to be the best D artiste book I've seen and owned.

Dile, darktwin Mine didn't take long to come at all, i thought i'd be waiting for over a month to get all my books aat once, phoned up amazon to see if i could get the outs that was instore straight away, but some stupid woman was like 'we can, but it'd cost alot more and loads of over crap' so i told her to forget it, i'd wait, but the books seemed to come one by one, my 1st book was world of kong then it was the skillful huntsman and then Concept design 2 so no, not long at all.

I REALLY want the d'artiste book, leather bound edition damnit!
and the rakuga king one too, once i get some more money in, though i can get them now, but i wanna save some dosh just in case.

    thanks for the recommandations guys.

Don't you think it's kinda pointless to get a leather bound when it's extra fifty bucks?... I mean, normal edition already has a sturdy cardboard case already...

I just got d'artiste: Conept Art in the mail today. I'm enjoying it, there's a fair amount of interesting reading material and each of the 4 featured artists has three step-by-steps to show their process (with notes). Mmmm... and I'm a sparth nut, so I really enjoy having a bunch of recent work in book forum plus seeing how he made them. Andrew Jones as well. I've only skimmed through it so far, but yea, lots of solid art. Granted it's expensive, but I'm glad I got it.

Also, I noticed a new Jon Foster book coming out this year? Definitely gotta pick that up.

HyperReal: The art of Martin Emond
Marty fucking Emond died recently, but he is a favorite of mine that more people should be aware of, because he was a fucking genius.
The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island, nice digital paints there. Little too flashy for my taste, but if you wanna learn how to paint digitally, look at this book and start taking notes.
Anything by Claire Wendling: Iguana Bay, Drawers, Les Lumieres de l'amalou.
Sky Doll 0: Doll's Factory, by Barbucci and Canepa...Beautiful, beautiful work that must be enjoyed by more people in this country. I think you can also pick up the three tomes of Sky Doll at Amazon.fr. Shipping isn't nearly as expensive as you might think, and i got mine in less than two weeks, which is amazing.
Anything by Sergio Toppi. Sharaz De I and II especially.
Les Liberateur, by Enrique Fernandez is fantastic too.
Recently I also picked up the Peter de Seve sketchbook and it is great.
