Hey! Thought I'd stop by since you were kind enough to visit my sketchbook as well. Lookin' good! Though, I do agree w/ rblitz7's comment about going over your lines, but w/ practice, that won't be much of an issue. And you're practicing is paying off, so keep sketching and I'll keep looking!

Hey there, I love that nocturne and sunfire image. Sunfire almost seems to have a sixth finger. I would connect that line on the pinky. Her hip is a bit weird as well, almost like it's broken. Very nicely done overall..... and Wolvie, great pic of him going through the page. At least thats what I think he's doing Maybe make more of a shredded tear around him. Keep up the nice work as well as your band I'll be waiting for the next batch.

    hello everybody

    Well i hello people
I guess after about two or three months without internet and a computer that doesnt work with my scanner, im back with more sketches yeah!
I've drawn a lot since my last post and hope to post them soon but most of it is in my class for the weekend and wont be able to post the lot until i get them back monday. But im not posting empty handed i do have this protrait of Katrina, this girl from my com art class. It has its mistakes like the lips but overall it turned out good. Plus i'm drawing this picture of gears of war main character i found during school, im about half done and fell like taking a break. And what better to do then update my stuff on conceptart since i fixed my techincal problems.

    nice pencil work.
My advice would be to start drawing from life and work on line quality if you really want to improve. Every comic artist has alot of anatomy knowledge, so they can draw those muscles correctly

Not much today to post just this sketch of a girl, the only thing wrong with it is that i didnt shade it enough, but that can be fixed easliy. welcome c&c about this sketch or the others.

Your faces got better; on the last girl sketch, the eyes aren't looking the same direction is something else wrong besides just more shading. And anatomy books are really helpful, what I usually do with em, if I don't understand how say, an arm, is put together; I draw it 2 times from the example, then from memory, if it looks wrong I draw it again 2 times, memory, just repeat that until you're confident you know the muscles then onto the next muscle group. When its the next day do the group you worked on from memory if it looks wrong, you should know what to do. Also, when I'm just going about the day I've gotten into the habbit of just watching people and how they look when they bend their arms or legs a certain way and I try and remember it for later, just a way of mentally practicing while doing whatever.

Hey, long time no write. Sorry about that. I haven't been posting my book lately. I see you're working hard at your technique. That Turner Hulk is awesome. The last post has some great improvements. Keep on drawing! Maybe do a page of loose gestures to warm up and post them up here so we can all see.

Heya. You have improved alot. I like the GoW pic, I hear its a great game (even its not a Wii title ). Also the Hulk, Thing and the fireman pictures are very good. Can't think of any constructive crits atm, but keep on the good work.

    I'm Back again.

it's been a month since my last post and im sorry about that, i got a few drawings to show you, army of two drawing from a screenshot of the game. It is really cool game from the looks of it i seen the trailer on the internet and thought i would draw one of the screenshots. Only problem is that my scanner was smaller than the drawing so it cut of some the side and bottom of it but you get to see most of it. The others is a face that took about little under 5 mins, homer and bender who are freakin cool, and a girl, i guess you could call it a pinup. As always i hope that you like them and that you post crits and comments, if not thanks for looking and hope to see you again.

Hey there! I was wondering where you've been. I'm glad to see you're still drawing. Didn't want you to give up or anything. Your Homer and Bender piece is well done. You've got their shapes down. That pic from the game looks cool. The girl taking off her shirt, was that ref'd? You got the form down. May need to go back and refine your lines a bit. I hope you continue to update this site and improve your talent. Keep them coming!!

Hey there! Since you popped by my sketchbook i thought i'd reply to you as well!

I see you're into comic book styled things. What you need then is a rock solid understanding of anatomy. So my advice is to study anatomy all the time! You have some nice ideas here, but you're not nailing the anatomy, and it kinda shows. You could also try varying your lines more, and use more suggested lines instead of outlining every shape.

Keep it up the good work!

darkchild: thx again for always stopping by, the girl was done by ref

Slash: thx for coming by, yeah i really need to clean up my line work i dont know it just seems by the time im done with a drawing its not dark enough so i go over it to add more shadow.

Ok i aint going to say im back again or any crap like that because with school, my band, and everything thing else i dont have much time to get on here any more. But hopefully i can change that, and i will start with this small post, it would be bigger but all the stuff ive done lately is in my class. So i wont be able to post them to monday when i get back to school.
The picture is just girl laying there, it is from ref, i think i do ok, but i dont like the hair that much.

I'm back with more, yeah !!! The first is just some random girl with a gun, another girl, the deer from the movie open season and finally a painting of the cover of the game resistance fall of man. The painting was a grade in my class and i think i did pretty good for it being pretty much the first time i painted. The painting is cut off thou, what see is only a 1/4 of it because of my scanner, but what you see is the best part of it anyway.

Hey there! That reindeer had me crackin' up Kind of a louge singer pose! I thought you did a good job with the guy flexing his back. Maybe bring out more tone instead of line. The chin's a bit too pointy on that chick's portrait, though not entirely impossible. Try to balance out the features of the face a bit more. The nose is a bit too long.

I think you're doing great, just keep on posting!

This is all i got for now i have to go school, i would had posted this later but i had a two hour delay so i got the time to finish it. Well hope you liked it and thanks for looking, even if you didnt post.

I think it bears a good resemblance to her. Although her face seems too pointed because of the jaw line. On the hair, you could try shading in the direction of the flow of hair. I don't know what the original pic looked like but add some more values if you can to the overall pic. That will bring out the image a whole lot more. Even if there is a light value add that in there and then layer on another darker range for some shadows. Don't be afraid to experiment. That was my downfall on my earlier posts. I was afraid to "ruin" a study by putting down more values but until you try you won't know what works and what looks good Keep the awesome studies coming!

Darkchild: thx man, i will try and darken it up, the only reason i didnt was that the picture wasn't that dark. I posted it for you and anyone else thats to see it to compare.

Well i will try and darken it and show a updated version later tonight or maybe even tomorrow because i need to get some bass practice in.

Well i back with the darkened Jessica and more! Yeah take that up the ducky!
For the picture of Jessica Alba i tried to fix the face up a little, lighten the lights, and added more shadow. Then we have the super awesome Jet Li from the movie Fearless with his three side staff of doom. I kind messed up the face, but you can kind of tell its him.

Hey man Jessica is turning out great. The one thing that I have noticed wrong on it is that her right cheek bone is too flat, try and pronounce it alittle more. Great work so far.

Hell I could tell it was Jet just by the stance and the weapon. Cool study. Now I see tons of value on that Alba photo, there are some great contrast and highlights. I think you did good on the work over. Now comes the next step. Try and smooth your shading down just a bit more. You have some great dark areas but they're splotches here and there. Work the values gradually there is no need to rush. Don't think you have to darken in an area right off the bat because it's what you see. Really look at the pic and see the gradients of tone. There is a lot more tone than what you've laid down on the paper. This is a great step for you in terms of your rendering Keep it up you're doing awesome!

This time it is asia argento, i did it in about an hour this morning because we another two hour delay. Dont worry i will still try and work on that jessica alba I just wanted to do something else for the moment. Plus i started drawing angelina jolie in class but left it there, i prolly post it later tonight. I also have all these study drawings that was a grade in my class, the lips, ears, mouth, skull, and the face so I will also post them later too. I also put the ref for this drawing to compare, i think my drawing's face actually looks like her.

That last post does bear good resemblance to the photo just like your Alba pic. Good work. Nice work with the had holding the gun, but the other hand is a tad too big. Don't worry about the Alba pic you don't want to work on something that you're bored with right? You won't put all into it then. I think your should go over the pic with a light shade to add an extra range of value. There is a whole lot more value on her chest and shoulders as well as her stomach. I hope I'm not pushing you too hard. I'm just trying to get you to see the full range of shadow no matter how light they are. One last crit, hair. The hair on Jessica Alba's pic is a whole lot better because you didn't put a hard outline on it. You portrayed individual strands and it looks good. On Asia, the hair is clumped so you drew a hard line around the area which makes it look plastic and one piece. Even though the hair is clumped together you should give some hint of individual strands. Look at the original pic and you'll see that some of the hair is separated from the rest of the clump and if you look closely the edge of the hair shows the strands. I guess what I'm trying to say is try not to use a hard line to depict hair. Try and define the shape using strands.
