Great studies! I really dig the photo-ref portrait. I agree with the more shading. It's good to see you updating again. Keep it up.
The stuff is tight. It seems like you have a lot of fun with photo ref. Your line work is solid, but the only real value study I've seen is the horse head. It would be cool to see other work taken to that level. Ah shit, I think this is the same thing I said in my last post.

Wow, the hand holding the cello(or whatever) in #24 has some real weight. Nice sketches all around, but like Mort said, let's see some more colored stuff!
Keep it up!

Yay, those hands are looking tight. My favorite is the one with the ring holding a plate(?), love that fancy-manners pinky
And I agree, we demand more value studies!!!
Keep it up, looking good.
I really like you lines, they feel very solid and confident! I'd like to see some colour however![]()
you got some nice studies here. really like the hand drawings. looking forward to seeing more
We need an update!!!![]()
lol fedezz, ok ok. Peer pressure ftw.
Also sorry for the tiny thumbnails, I hope CA works out why this bug is happening and fixes it soon.
I've got a few unfinished things going side by side. Slowly working on an now very late entry for a mini TD.
Un-referenced sketch of lucifer. Proportions are somewhat off.
Work in progress of the painting. I'm going to redo the wings, they look awkwardly angled.
Again sorry for the measly and slow SB updates.
O_O
daaaaaamn.. these pictures are sooo beautiful
im so excitied to see how the finished peice is gonna look like

thank you again for helping me with my recent pic too ^_^
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Update more often please!
Nice updates. I like the pencil more than the painting but I'm sure once you get the colors and details added in, that'll kick ass. More updates (I can't talk really) but these are great
uhu uhu, nice updates. the angels are truly looking good. i like angels.
let the updates cumming!
Hihi. Great studies. I love the way you draw eyes.
I'm sorely missing some shading or colouring though!
Hey, nice seeing you update
I also like the pencil better than the painting. Right now, the painted angel is looking a bit photoshopy, the skintones are kinda lifeless. Try adding a saturated color (like red) in the middle of the blending, instead of just smudging light and shadows. This tutorial has a lot of useful info, and explains what I meant to say much better. I think it's a piece with a lot of potential, you just have to work on its rendering a bit.
Keep the updates coming!
Hey guys/gals thanks for the comments.
Fedezz you're right, I have a lot of trouble with colour. I tried upping the opacity but I'm not getting far. Heeeelppp! I can't seem to paint or colour.
This is what happened so far:

Hey, don't worry, color's tough.
Usually, color problems in a painting have to do more with value than with hue. What helped me a lot with digital painting (bah, with every kind of painting) is doing lots of value studies from reference. A lot of pros start with a b/w rough and begin to work with color somewhere along the process. A really useful tip is to create a hue/saturation/lightness adjustment layer (in photoshop, don't really know how it works in painter) on top of everything else, and set saturation to zero. Once in a while you turn it on to check value relationship an stuff. When you get values right you can play with chroma, adding saturation in the middle of a blending without screwing it value-wise.
Another important thing are edges, try to have nice consistent variety of soft, hard and lost edges. I know Elwell did a tutorial about it, maybe in the tutorial forums? And the flat backgroung is not helping, specially if later you decide to change its color: it will affect the figure and you'll have to tweak it a lot. At least try to rough your background, so you can make the outer edges of the figure interact with it, right now looks like it's separated from it.
I think the later version looks better, less smudgy. If you like, I could do a quick paintover to clarify what I've said.
Don't give up, I think you're on the right track.
colour is hard. but don't knock trad media. one can do qwickie colour studies.
in any case. Like the stuff. I wouldlike to see you work more from life. Ref photos are all very well. but everything looks still and static. except the one of your gaming roomy...that looks real
nice to meet you on irc.

Yay, update. Good job working on it, the anatomy looks much better.I agree that a background of some kind (even just a gradient) would help a lot. Keep up the good work

I thought the modelling on the figure was where you needed the least amount of work, though a bit. Look up reference photos, structural anatomy books, and things of that sort to get the right shapes for foreshortened limbs. For the wings and hair, sort out the larg shapes rather than going right to detail. Shade the wing as if it were flat without feathers till the shape looks right, then add detail. Same for the hair. Good to see you updating.

Just a few excerpts from the 200 gestures TD. Most of the human skeletal gestures are from loomis, the others are reffed from various sources like books, magazines, my own hands and a few are made up.

Dig it, you're back in the game. I couldn't really see the last one, a bit small of a post.

Hey Cwn Annwn, i like the gestures. I'd say try to do them without lifting your drawing instrument, it helps build energy and looseness into your gestures. How come you're all updatey now that you left the ssg?Keep it up.
She joined a new herd! I like the gestures but some of the lines look a little thick? Did you go over them or are you using a thicker lead?
