Love the dragon sketch, was that from life or your imagination?
I can see through time
If Mike says they exist, they exist
Devin, great drawings, nice sketches, and Happy Chinese new year. Serious this time.

Tigermilk: thanks man! I know my pencils are pretty lazy, but I've never really cared about pencils, and I'm drawing in an a6 size moleskine, usually only while consuming alcohol
Jovian M: Yes, yes I have. And it's not over yet!!
Windmaker: thanks man!!
OmertA: Thanks Jamie, the adventure is still going on
SamC: thanks!!
AustenFM: hahahah...the just might
Dana_T: thanks man!
PieMonster: thanks! I'm having a pretty good time, tho sometimes I get a bit stressed for various reasons ;P Still learning a lot tho!
Metal Fingers: woooooord!
Shreya: thanks!!!
Beelow: I think regular updates are still far away...once I stop doing freelance maybe I'll have more free time...
Aveh: lol...he really does!!
DefiledVisions: thanks dooood!
Ixius: thanks man! Everyone's always struggling with something, even if it's not art related...but especially within
Geir: yeah dude. China is fucking nuts.
surus: "lost" my sketchbook...I just don't know where it is, I'm sure it's somewhere at my parent's house with a bunch of other random art suppliesI was using rosetta stone for a while, but I've been so busy the last few months I've stopped taking the time for learning much of anything. I already know enough basics to get around, and where I fail short...I just call one of the bilingual chinese people I know
Paraskoira: STRANGERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS hahahah
kiwigarbage: no ink! NEVARRRRRR!! *cough* maybe in the future, I'm just not a big fan of it
odayga: thanks!
smokenmirrors: I think traveling puts a lot of things into better perspective...there's really a lot to see out there, and it's sad that so many people don't even leave their hometown...
ThomasM: thanks dude! I'm pretty lazy about drawing with pencilI don't even know where my current sketchbook is exactly
oren90: thanks man! yeah the apt has a cool view, but I actually don't spend too much time staring out the window...mostly just staring at computer screens
Teundeboer: hahah I can only post as much as I do. I'm real busy doing freelance when I'm not doing regular work
ThabisoMhlaba: thanks dude! it has been a while...
Mike Butkus: thank mike! the dragon sketch was from imagination. I can't really think of anything clever to say as a rebuttle
p sage: thanks man!! there's like 1000000000x more fireworks than that...all day and all night long
So this is about the extent of the personal work that I've done since my last update. All the rest of my time as been spent working, doing freelance, more freelance, and then when I'm not doing those, I just can't be arsed to draw, so I do fun things like play videogames, or lay on the floor listening to audiobooks and resting my eyes.
In other news, it looks like the studio I'm working at is moving from Shanghai to Singapore sometime around march or april! I'm looking forward to another exciting adventure!!!
these are all 2-3 hour sittings except for the failed cast study. that was like 6 hours...and then all 3 of us just kind of gave up.

Interesting to see that your finally rendered images don't stray too far from their initial sketches. I have a terrible habit of completely moving everything around, like clay I suppose.
Nice grasp of colour. Want to see mooooore though.. mwoaaaaaar.
Edit: Fuck, you are the pandabat guy right? Possibly met at the san fran 2006 workshop, spoke on ventrilo or something? Crikey, you have come a loooooooooooooooong way mate!![]()

That cast has too many light sources on it to be tackled in 6 hours! I really like the portraits.

You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell
Mr Man: Cheers man!! I still change a lot while I'm working, but I really try to get most things sorted out in the drawing stage these days, seems like extra work at the beginning, but in the long run really seems to make things move a lot faster overall.
...and yes, I'm the pandabat guy. We met at the san fran workshop in 2006, and I used to pop into vent every once in a while
Yor: Thanks dude!
AndreasM: Thanks man!!
Yeah, we never really tried anything like that before, but we sure learned our lesson...

Nothing much to show here, but a little nugget that's a few months old that I can show. Had the opportunity to do some collaborative freelance with the fabulous Clochette for Wakfu TCG![]()
These have been released in the Pandala extension!
tremblement de terre
[earthquake]
It was a wee bit rushed, had a little bit too much work and not enough time, but still was really cool to do. I had just started doing fulltime gig, and still had freelance on the side...but I reallllllllllllllllly wanted the chance to work with clo!
I actually ended up having to take a vacation day from my fulltime job in order to finish it on time hahah...
It's collaborative work like this I wish I could do all the time, I love to render on top of her lines! hopefully in the future we will be able to do even more, but I can't get too far ahead of myself...need to finish what's on my plate first![]()
I also want to say that I really appreciate the kind words from everyone! It really means a lot to me

MeTaL-Mike: thanks! Oils are pretty fun, I wish I spent more time with them
I saw this was released on the internet somewhere, so I thought I might post it here. It's from Eternal Legacy. It was a collaboration at the office...I worked on this while waiting of feedback from a different project I was working on. It's also quite old, but anyway...All I did was clean up the 3/4 view drawing and then rendered it for final approval. A coworker did the lines.
