    Truly Amazing...

The more I learn, it seems, the less I know.

I've always thought of myself as a decent scuptor but everytime I log into one of your tutorials I learn new things. I suppose that should be the goal of any artist...to be ever evolving. Well, your work is informative and inspirational and following your processes is making me a better sculptor and a happier person.

Too cheesey? How about this...Thanks for all the informative help, your stuff kicks much ass!

Hey smellybug, what precautions do you take when firing your maquettes? Like what do you put them on in order to keep details from being messed up or metal surfaces from maybe burning anything.

Hey smellybug, I found this place awhile back and I loved the quadriped, spkey critter. That tut is what got me interested in super sculpy. I just fijished a small (about 1/2 scale) bust and I'd love to have a critique. This is my first sculpture ever and would love feed back. I would also like to know what type of airbrush you recommend and what type paint. Prices would be nice but don't go out of your way for them them. Keep up the good work, I love it.

    Brilliant work this.

    What's next?

I joined this forum just because of your other tutorial, on the stabby creature. It's all so.... great!

I can't wait to get to the part where you explain how you get that transluscency on the flesh of the carriage's legs. But I'm enjoying all this earlier bit too much to want to rush off.

Your sense of anatomical structure is impressive. To what do you attribute this ability to, in terms of your schooling.

n00b alert: What kind or brand of wire mesh is that you're using? I was wondering if it might help me make wings on gargoyles & dragons.

Also, you don't use aluminum foil to bulk up your sculptures and conserve clay?

Smellybug's last post in this thread was September 30th, 2006. Are we to assume, because this sculpt is featured in his latest DVD, that there will be no more post from him in this thread?

That would be a shame. Posting a few more WIP shots would boost sales of the DVD.

This thread could also serve as a "Question and Answer" area for those that buy the DVD and have additional questions.

Of course Peter Konig can do whatever he wants. It would just be nice if someone "in the know" let the rest of us in on if this thread will ever be updated again.

GDragon: With all due respect. I don't think a few extra WIP would make any difference to his sales. There are alerady plenty in this thread and it's featuring more than half the DVD progress wise. More than anyone should expect. Buy the DVD instead in that case.

A better question (IMHO) would be when Mr. Köning plans to release his next DVD where he paint this sculpture? He breifly mentions a follow up DVD with painting the sculpt as a theme.

Zaphod: You're right. I hope my post didn't sound ungrateful for all Mr. Köning has done for the community, but I'm afraid it did. Nothing could be further from the truth. I bought his DVD as soon as it was available and it was a great value.

It was narrow minded of me to suggest that more info about the DVD might help others understand what a great value it is. His name and obvious talent is more than enough. I wasn't thinking.

I also agree a painting DVD would be amazing. Not only is Mr. Köning a wonderful artist, he has a real skill at teaching in a way anyone can understand.

Yeah, I just got the DVD of this tutorial last week and watched it today... Best 50 bucks I've spent in a loooong time. I love that the camera just watches him work for such long periods. THAT is how you learn. Just watching what tools he uses and how. Wow. I really, really hope he releases a painting follow up like he says.
