Hey fishpawn, I like your life drawing studies, it definitely carries a good amount of weight on the paper. I think we are in similar situations where the pencil is mighter than the wacom brush. You're speedies seem a little too tight, i think tinkering with different opacities and varied brushstrokes will help give your speedies a bit more depth. I think the looser the brushstrokes the more hidden things and less commitment you'll have to one particular concept of the enviro.

salut fishspawn your perspective may be fast [ although 30 minutes for just that it's kinda long time ] but it's not accurate [ check the big red "thing" in the left of the image ! i also think that the colors are too strong, you will say it doesn't matter but it does because the colors you are using right now are very strong, try to calm them down a little bit ! you have better works few pages back well anyway keep it up and keep posting !

Hey Wes! Great to see you painting so much.

I think you should pay a bit more attention to colour temperature and hue shifting while you paint. I think the lack of depth is because you need to pay more attention to how hue shifts to give form it's dimension, also colour temperature can really make something pop or recede into space. Maybe do longer studies and concentrate on those things?

Another tip is mix up your technique, it's sometimes more handy to make a new layer and loosely block in your shape, then use the eraser to chisel it out. Once happy, flatten it down.

Well keep rocking, hope I could help

Great shading and lighting on this one Fishspawn. You did a good job capturing those elements. Add a shadow so that he doesn't appear to be floating as much and this is perfect. Good to see ya still cranking out the sketches!

So I couldn't think of any poses for my invented figures this week so i did some silhouettes to get some ideas. Since they are already on my computer I may as well post them.

Edit: Heres a portrait from my imagination. It's nothing special but it's a lot better than my last attempt.

    Silhouettes

I really like silhouettes. and I particularly like the one of the couple. It's kind of alive. They really seem to be interacting with each other. The others are cool as well, but that one really stands out. The skin tones are good on the portrait.

wow i really like that 15 hour sculpture you did, that must have been one hell of a challenge.

for you environments, i would say to focus more on composition and try to establish a foreground, middle ground, and background with the use of value. Do some monochromatic or gray scale environments to really experiment with your values.

jdeegz - thanks! For thumbnails i just opaque black and white and scribble a lot until i see an interesting shape and then i build on it. I flip horizontally a lot to make sure what I'm doing makes sense, and if its not interesting i erase and start over. Also i start with each one very large and then shrink it when I'm happy with it.

I realized that finals should be no excuse to stop posting daily, so I will be doing that again. I thought it would be fun to re-do the very first digi from my imagination that i posted on page 1 - 1 hour.

Dude! It's been a while since I last had a look in here and you've improved so much! Loving the perspective exercises as they're really important, and dang, your lifedrawings are great. Just keep doing those, and also keep going through that environmentoring stuff okay?

Today, I really like the gestures. They tell a story even though they are simple.
The brush you used for the grass in the speedy turned out nicely.
