character design(hell knight)

this is a character I've been working on. It is a hell knight with wings, its the first full rendering of this particular character. Yes I know its a crappy digital camera and its really pixelated, when I finish the final its gonna be a high-quality scan.The sword is terrible. Im gonna fix it for the next drawing, the legs need to be finished too. Its pencil on sketch paper.Tell me what you think. I need outside input!....and I don't like that face niether.

wow! and you said that was just drawn with pencil? thats mad! That almost exactly how i'd like to drawn when i get better. That must have took you ages?? I love it !

I like looks very much like a traditional fantasy illustration. a bit more variation in the shading could do tons.

Reminds me of Adrian Smith's early work for Games Workshop, all done with pencils.

If you can find some old White Dwarfs, or GW books ( before they started sucking ), adrians pencil work is wild.

The wing needs a bit of work. They dont look like they can fold to me. Its probably because of the big elbow spine or how I cant tell where the elbow joint is. The tip of the wings are a bit odd too. A few studies from bat wings beforehand should help imo.

Details amazing, the shading is pretty bad ass too... Like someone said very old school RPG style (The style I perfer, reminds me of Luis Royo's work a little) to make the proportions fit the body I suggest making the head a little bigger. But then that's your choice. Because right now something in the head shoulders area proportionally speaking isn't right. But like I tell everyone if you did it intentionally for artistic reasons leave it be

yeah thanks for the comments. I knew the head was small, I erased it a few times, I guess it needed once more. The symbol on the wing I took from warcraft history. There was an orc clan that followed Nekros, They were the clan that had imprisoned the dragon queen and had used dragons for the horde. The symbol itself I made up myself and I put it in spots around the figure himself. The reason why he isn't an orc is that Nekros was killed and is in my version is one of the undead and has risen a fallen knight of Lordearon to fight for his legion of the undead. He has given the death-knight the wings of a dragon.

yeah Im gonna redesign this character and post it again, Im gonna go for a close up bust view, the trouble is working in the wings. I am also about to start a full rendering of an angel soon. I am just waiting on getting good paper to do it on. and Im gonna have to scan it so the size is restricted to 11x17, This drawing here is 18x24 on crappy sketch paper. This here is the start of the angel. I ended up tracing it after I took this picture of it so i could redo some of the armour.

Really like the wings/bust area, especially whatever is over the head. The shading is awesome I also enjoy the choice armor. I think the wings look fine so far personally.

Its a bit hard to see because from my end, it looks like the picture is blured, but i'm sure it looks brilliant! lol.
