    Bonedog's sketchbook . new drawings 7.19.06

Been drawing a lot lately... figure it's time to get posting. I'd love to get some feedback on these. My props to all the consistent posters. The "Daily Sketcbhooks" have been really inspirational.

    very interesting...love the outfits
"The function of art is to stop us and take us out of our skin,

These dialogues of Maker and Seer weave together matter with soul,
Consecrating the practice of art as speech of the ineffable." ~ALEXgrey

Edwin: Heh.. yah... I noticed the Wolverine resemblance, too. I just didn't want to use metallic wings or something... make it more realistic.

Thanks Inferno... I use fashion mags to help, and I've got a drawing book by Barbara Bradley that has some clothing tips, too.

    Anyway... here's tonight's work.

what do you think about these drawings bone? are they just some doodles or have you really spent some time on them, are they kinda cartoons for paintings (the one with the girl in the box) or studies?

the pencil work is really nice, you've got a nice approach to the figure, the last one with the blue chick, the purple really doesn't do it for me, are you using chalks? if so i'd spray fix what you've got down, then go back into it with another layer of chalks, repeat the process until done..

but yeah man the stuffs really lookin good, hope to see more outta you

    mephisto, fozzy: thanks

siskol: the full body ones are simply, "ok... my goal tonight is to come up with one drawing of one character."

If I don't set up limits like then it's hard to accomplish anything. I kinda liked the girl with the twigs/balls in her hair, but I thought it wasn't a very interesting drawing, so I did the thumbnail of the girl in the box to make her more interesting. I think it's got potential so I'm attempting to do a finished portfolio piece, which is the blue one. There will be more colors eventually I think, but not much.

anyway, been busy... works been slow coming

mephisto: mostly from a chick in a magazine, but when the photo reference doesn't have the necessary details/setup you gotta be able to fill in the rest.

man, this piece is driving me nuts. i started another for refreshment and relaxation.

I rather like your drawings, they've caught my attention for some reason. The coloured pieces are really good, it looks like you pulled them together from the beginning. I'll be watching you.

i have the budget skull with the vertebrae and i like it, but the vertebrae don't sit right like in the pictured. i would suggest saving 60$ and just getting the budget skull. i think it's good enough. i don't think you'd notice a large difference between that and the "classic" one.
