Pocket Mod - Make a tiny and thin sketchbook (picture inclosed)

    Hey guys,

this is prolly old new to some of you. But the guys over at http://www.pocketmod.com/ have a pretty neat yet simple idea. They provide instructions on how to make a little notebook/organizer thing out of 1 piece of paper. It's meant to be an organizer and they provide page templates geared toward that. So why did I post this on an art forum?

Well, you don't have to use any of there templates or print anything out for that matter. Just grab a sheet of paper and following the folding instructions and you have a thin little sketchbook that fits in your pocket. Granted it is only 4"x2.5" (lol) and only has 8 pages. But it's something you can keep in your pocket for days that you don't have a sketchbook with you. And the best part? You can make it out of any quality paper you want.

    -Mike

(edit: It folds flat like a moleskine too!)

(edit again: Here's a picture of one of my pages I did in it. The pencil is for a size reference.)

Hmm... half of the pages are wasted? It probably takes longer to layout the thing than it takes to like.. staple or bind it properly so you get more pages.

I'm tempted to make one now (A4 front and back, 16 pages), but with only reference stuff, like... important human knowledge. Something you'd take with you as a timetraveler to upset history. Unfortunately I'm not literate enough to do such a thing.

You completely use 1 side of the page. So I guess you can say that the back of the page is wasted...but if you really wanted to I guess you could refold it the otherway (insideout) once you had filled it up one way.

I don't think it would be used as your primary sketchbook. But many times I have either forgot my sketchbook (and could have used this if I had one in my pocket) or hand to go somewhere where carrying a sketchbook was impratical but having a small book thing in my pocket would have worked.

Does anyone know how to bind stuff with thread and needle? I'm thinking of binding a few of these and glue won't work. I'm not too sure on how to do it with thread, I've seen a few websites but they aren't clear.

Cut a paper into stripes/rects, staple together at half.

^ if you have a stapler and scissor this is the fastest way I can think of. Not very pretty however. It could also use a thing for keeping it closed, maybe a paperclip arrangement, or a paper flap on the cover you fold around the edge and push into a slit in the back.
