Hi guys,
I quite honestly feel a little bit out of place here, but I thought I'd post my first clay model for 12 years! Last time I did anything with clay was at school when I was 15. Since then I've worked as a 3D modeller in the games industry for several years, and after deciding to try freelancing a few years ago I've had the opportunity to experiment a bit more and move into other areas. I've moved mostly into 2D now, and recently decided to take the plunge and buy some clay after being inspired by sculptures in this very forum. I REALLY enjoyed myselfI felt just like a kid for a day and managed to come up with this face test. It's not great or original but it's a start, and I'd love to learn a bit more about the techniques and try a few monsters or something like that! Anyhow, any crits or general advice would be great because this piece began to crack after a little while and I'm not too sure why. I don't mind though, it's added some character and looks old! I heard oil based clay might be better - anyone have any comments regarding the differences/advantages etc?
If you're interested in seeing a little 1.4mb movie of the face, you can find it on my website in the traditional/clay section - hopefully it will give you a much better idea of the form etc
Thanks a lot and I'm looknig forward to posting some new stuff in the future!
J-K
