Hey, Darkchild! It's always great to see you've stopped by! (hey, where did the last three months go?!) Yes, you're right -- the above image wasn't finished. I'll post the finished version later.

To fill the void till then: a venture into actual paint...

Hey there! Love that jester up top. Your last post has caught my eye. For some reason I immediately thought of the anime series, Berserk. It just looks like that time period. Very nice work as always.

Hey, Darkchild -- I'm very glad you like the jester painting -- I was exceptionally nervous about that one, since it was done in real paint... Oh, and I'll take the Berserk comment as a compliment. =) As always, thanks for stopping by!

And here's a little bit of ambition fallen flat on its face...

You're welcome I love that anime Beserk... kind of a messed up story though and the ending really made me mad...

I'm really diggin your new post! I love the style. The colors are a bit dark but that sets a great mood. I don't know what you're talking about "fallen flat", I really like it. I would hang this up in my home. Don't get me wrong I love all your work but this last post is exceptionally good. I really hope to see you exploit this style a bit more

Darkchild, thanks! I think last time I even thought of the Berserk anime/manga was 8-9 years ago, but I remember liking it (though I never finished watching/"reading" it, so I'm not exactly sure what happened at the end, even if the manga wasn't really chronological, so I have my guess). I'm actually flattered that my drawing reminded you of it -- though the story the illustration comes from isn't nearly as dark as I remember Berserk to be. =)

    Some early characters revisited:

    Hello Irina,
It's been a while since I've visited here. I really liked the sketches in 147, those simply appeal to my style anyways hehe.

I also like how you're trying to include backgrounds and color into your new wave of images. Keep up!

Dahami -- thank you! I try, so I'm glad to hear I'm having some success. =)

Niva -- long time no see! Thanks for stopping by, as always! Yes, I've been trying to inch towards full blown illustrations. I don't practice drawing/painting nearly enough to ever hope to become decent at it, but I can always pretend...

    Anyway.

So, I saw this week's CHOW topic and got the urge to sketch. Unfortunately, scanner's currently not installed, and I only have my ancient camera handy... So, the photo of the sketch's horrible, and even my toying with it in photoshop didn't help much...

Cool angle! It almost looks like she's hanging over a giant burner on an old stove!

Darkchild -- thanks. =) Actually, it's supposed to be the functional part of a washing machine, I believe. But I think burner's close enough!

And some progress on the above:

Lol! My bad, shows you how often I do laundry!

Lovely update, love the green eyes... Always had a thing for green eyes. I think it stems from that movie "Big Trouble in Little China".

Hah hah... Big trouble in Little China -- love that movie! (in a guilty pleasure kinda way =). Actually, a friend of mine has been giving me a hard time about it lately. Green eyes are fun... especially when one is supposed to be blue. =D

So, I actually ended up doing a sketch for the current CHOW as well (another bad photo of the sketch touched up in Photoshop). A better character sketch would have been the Green Fairy reflecting on her past glory as the medicine of choice, lamenting being debased to a barmaid. I won't be drawing it, but, just saying...

Here's the above drawing "finished," the sketch of the Green Fairy, and an older CHOW sketch I had posted in the CHOW thread a while back, but never here.

Loving all your new posts especially that Green Fairy piece!

That back to monochrome piece is very well done. Great details on the rifle. The little nitpicky thing is that he looks like he's leaning on top of the rifle instead of holding onto it. Seems kind of imbalanced in a way. No big deal, I love that piece all the same Great stuff I don't think I could ever tire of looking at your work!

Hey, Darkchild -- yeah, the rifle is a little awkward. He's actually supposed to be leaning on it, counterbalancing the weight of its butt end.

Anyway, as always, it's great to see you stop by! And thank you for your kind comments!

You're welcome I mean it when I say I really enjoy looking at your work! It really is inspiring to see you progress! I was wondering are you taking photos of your work like I am? They seem very dark on one side. How large are you drawing?

Love the excellent fingers on the last post!

Darkchild: Thanks! =D I do take photos of a lot of my drawings -- it's not a question of size of the drawing, but availability of scanner/camera. Yeah, a few of the latter pictures were taken with cameras (one of them with a cellphone camera -- yeah, I know =). One of these days, I'll sit down and make quality scans of drawings that are worth the time... If I find any of those.

Artofinca -- thanks for stopping by, and for your kind words!

It's been forever since I've drawn... But tonight, I finally whipped out the mechanical pencil and heavyweight printer paper and tried to remember what it's like to scribble. Yey!

So, here's a sketch of a character of a story I'm currently writing.

I draws dragons... Which happens, like, never.

Oh, and don't ask me how this thing is supposed to fly. I drew it just as an impulse to illustrate the character, you know. (who, in the story, doesn't even have a dragon to ride, so, moot point)
