I know its unethical to 2 threads in similar forums, but I would gladly appreciate the commentspld: ( the fuel inspiration lmao).
Okay lets start off on a proper foot , my name is William, in my spear time I love taking photos , playing games, hiting the movies for inspiration and drawing. I hope to improve in the near future( they say drawing is a skill, with practise it can be perfected just like driving a car. The following are a few of my recent stuff gona pu some of the old ones up to show the progress I have made.OOO and my fav. artist are yoshitaka amano and luis royo

When you scan a drawing and it has a huge shadow over it, there's a few ways to correct that.

In photoshop:
ctrl+l. Play with the sliders and see how they effect your drawing. You can eliminate the shadows entirely and leave only lineart.

You can also select the magic wand tool and click an area of shadow in between lines. Then go to select>similar. Then hit delete. You should be left with only line art. I may have messed up these directions, don't have a copy of photoshop handy atm to cconfirm it.

If you truly interested in getting better (most people here are), you're going to have to drop the stylized stuff for a while. You can still draw comic-esque things for fun, but you should try studying anatomy from life or photos, and doing still lifes. Draw more from reference, and less from your head. No, it probably won't be as fun as drawing hot chicks with big boobs and guns, but it will make your hot chicks with guns look better when you get around to drawing them again. It's hard to find a balance between having fun and improving yourself, but you'll find it.

On the same vein, you can become better with colour in photoshop by getting back to the basics and painting with acrylics and oils. It's certainly helped me a lot.

And don't be discouraged if you update 5 or 6 times and nobody says a thing. Remember that on these forums you're on the same playing field as professionals. Also keep in mind the guest to member ratio. Right now, there are 91 members and 650 guests browsing the forums. That means a potential 650 commentless views all at once. So don't equate lack of comments to you not progressing or anything. I only mention it because I got discouraged about 2 years ago and just dropped myself off the site.

will do,( yay finaly I can get rid of those blasted shadows) the pic were taken with a cam. gona do some refs. and as for still lifes we are tortured with em in art class( some good ones were sent up to the caribean examintation counsil for me( in all our exams the whole carribean does it and with most subjects u have a final project ) but im gona post some up its time to hit vogue!

oki from now on im gona be doing some refs and such, reading up on the dynamics of thebody. im concentrating on movement and getting the figure down on paper( so for now less attention to detial) heres one i did. gona post some more at the end of the day but gotto study for spanish finals

thanks dile, im trying to get the length right, next i must dive into proportions the average body 8 heads, length of chest is the same as from pelvic to kneew and from knee to sole blah blah hehe goto go study spanish laters lol

noice stuff you got here, one thing that I might say is to be real constructive and start blocking out things as far as muscles and faces go. So far so good! Keep it up man.

hey there! nice to see you in the sketchbook-section, too. your last photo for the challenge showed huge improvement, so i guess you'll show a similar energy in drawing.

sticking with the general proportions and not going into details right now is a good way, so is working with reference. sorry, can't give you too much of advice here, because you seem to know what to do.

I love both art and photography so i'm trying to improve in both(plus the comments from you guys in the photo forum realy helped) so look out for better things from this sb( I hope... ). here is my shot

be loose.... beware though that loose really means stuff like 'dont be afraid to put lines where you wouldnt expect them' or 'if you make a mistake just let it be and go over it or something' well yeh.. so being loose is more like.. dont be afraid. whatever it is you are afraid of.

being loose does not mean stop you brain usage and scribble whatever.
it is very very importand that you do think.. or more like 'see' what you want to draw .. what your next line is going to resemble.. what your current line is resembling..
just so you know.. ..

draw with utmost concentration on what you are doing.. AND.. do not be afraid to do whatever... anything is allowed.. there are no rulez..


now.. that chick and/or the death maker dude you drew is much better then drawing those stick figures... if you want to learn posing.. do think about the anatomy at least to a simple level.. do draw the bulges etc.. this to keep your mind focused on forms and keep your attention to what you are doing..

Hi there. wi_2 made a really good point in his post.
I don't have much to say and don't know where to direct you without confusing you, but one thing that's the truth is to start drawing from life. Study people in cafés or on the street, it'll help you with proportions. And you'll learn how to see how light and shadows work.
I'll check by again and see what more you've posted.

another thing i forgot to mention
another meaning for drawing loose

you can use it to draw quite brainlessly.. just draw some lines randomly
and in this see whatever you see.. whatever pops up.
then draw that with full concentration..

off course you can mix these.. if you get stuck.. draw some lines to free yourself and then go back to full concentration..

this is a really good way to inspire yourself..
youll be amazed at what you will see in these lines once you got the hang of it.

or just draw something you do have in your mind but dont know what it looks like really loosely on paper. so aid you.. then go back to pure concentration..

always go back there. you must not loose track of your brain too much or youll dump notingness on paper like poking with a stick in the beach sand..
very relaxing.. but not very productive.

Do some from pics or do some self portraits. WACOMs can be hard to get used to, they have slick surfaces.

If you don't mind running through alot of nibs, then put a sheet of paper over your tablet and it should feel better.

hmm i think my trys in photoshop scared everyone away neways back to the sketches I have to admit im always scared of posting on here due to the wonderful work all around this forum but one can only learn so here are some sketeches the 1st and second were from refs in vogue and the last and imaginative piece I was doing for school.
