The Patriarchy had always ruled from the winged throne. The people said that condemned prisoners disappeared mysteriously after being left alone in the throne room. Called Azroth. and Belmoth the two sides of the great throne had never been seen to move, but somehow the throne was always in the sunbeams that bath the throne room. The evil Patriarch necromancer, curtained all the windows to preserve a more mysterious Darkness, somehow he disappeared too.
The coronation of new Patriarchs (and they say the Patriarch Petrov was a woman) was always begun by bowing deeply and respectfully to Azroth and Belmoth in turn. It is said that during the vigil of the Coronation the two rise from the throne room and fly through out the kingdom with the new ruler. None has ever denied this tale.

    J.Mac

^ this is an enviroment for Vlad. the CHOW i figured why not bring them together well sort of. so he is a mad man etc. who likes road kill and injured animals, he collects bones and fur. more to come about his enviroment...

    Mr.Blonde

The old king refused to leave his throne as his kingdom was taken over by teh fearsome tentacle monsterzlol

    speculart

Not finished but work is taking up time.
When monarch and church combine they become all powerful. This is what King Larain believed early in the 16th century eastern European country of Chavarki and it was more than successful for over fifty years of peaceful prosperity. His plan to shock and awe his subjects both by dramatic backlighting and loud claps of thunderous noise behind the scenes worked well. Unfortunately it also fostered such an aura of secrecy that when the secret of his mortality was finally leaked, the backlash by the populace was equally as shocking and awe inspiring.

    Red_Rook

During a time of strife the Drakerise becomes the official seat of the king, with his war council he can command his legions and protect his people within its walls. It's said to be impenetrable and it has never fallen under siege, while most of the keep is simple and strongly fortified the throne room is said to be incredibly ornate, the skill of stone and metal working at that level long lost to its current owners.

    Hideyoshi

    THRONE ROOM
Tuxania’s Golden Throne Room has turned into a museum since the last king –Xavier XI -died and monarchy came to an end. With its rich ornamentary work and the eye-catching violet light rings this room has become well known in the world of the kings in the 22nd century.

    stewart one

This is the throne where the evil king of old sat (lets call him king petey III). Ruling the people from within his palace with an iron fist. Although at the time of this painting was done, he was out for a bathroom break. But anyways he mostly just sat in his throne being evil. EEVIIILLL!

    PHATandy

The throne room of the God-king of (fill in the name here) was so hi in the mountains that his followers could barely breathe and often froze to death during ceremonies. The god-king himself was unaffected. This may have been a sign of his divinity, or it may have been the seat heaters in the throne.

Wow, great stuff. I voted for hideyoshi. Great sci-fi thing with teh purple rings. They really are eyecatching

I really though I might have a chance to get one done this week.. but I fell asleep on the 4 hour plane ride... . That's what I get for waking up at 5:30am in the morning then flying to a place that's 3 hours behind.

Damn, I ran out of time and could not get mine done. Oh well, maybe I will finish it for my portfolio, and post it in my sketchbook later.

Some great entries here, Hideyoshi is great as usual, but every entry has something that I like this round. I'll have to look at them closer when I have a bit more time, then I will vote. Great job everyone.

I ended up going with Rook too - this is a landmark in his body of work and he's been taking off lately in terms of composition, color theory and all around enthusiasm.

Hideyoshi made the choice all the more difficult though - while I'm not a fan of the purple rings, there was a sense of space and volume that gave it a sense of grandeur that isn't present in most of the other entries.

    Red Rook definitely!
I especially like the composition and the attention to design and details. Nice finished look as well. I'd have wished to see a bigger version though...

yeap red rook for me too, though hideyoshi's did tempt me! awsome entries you two. But I felt Red had more "throne" feel in there with wacky ideas. Solid entries everyone.

Hideyoshi, easily. The purple rays might have loosened the focus of the throne room, causing the life to circulate. Aren't you supposed to get a crown for winning?

I went with J.Mac because the mood is wonderful. It has a creepy feel to it... maybe something one could find in a far away lonely castle... Thumbs up!

Gotta be the Rook. The light is great and the ornate decor has a real feel of authenticity. Hideyoshi, your good! Heaps of fun, got to get quicker and slicker I think.

J Mac@ Good idea to link your CHOW with your EOW. People should do that more often. I'm lovin' the concept and the composition really brings across the sense of space. You're my fave for this round.
