Can anyone give me any pointers on painting convincing rotten wood? I just scrapped and restarted a piece going in another direction, so I don't have anything to show where I'm going wrong right now. Any help would be appreciated

Can you find reference pics on the net? Can you find rotten wood and take some pics? It depends greatly if you are trying to draw a plank, or a tree or a door etc. Maybe if you show us a pic of what you are trying to achieve it will be easier.
