Hey guys, sorry for being so inactive. I've been slacking with my art the past few months, mostly because of school. I still have a dream to work as a concept artist some day, and (I think) I'd rather do that for a living than be a game designer, but since I'm now doing a game design education, I've been more focused on that. It is always my intention to draw more, but it's hard to follow through. I agree with Anthis' comment about just doodling away all the time - that's something I'll try to do more of this coming schoolyear.

It's nice to get comments about where I've been though - I do check CA.org regularly.

I haven't had much of a summer, Angela. Not much sun, and not much free time. I've been working summer jobs - had two days off in all of July. It's gonna be like vacation getting back to school

Yup, well one of the reasons I mentioned is that I also notice it with myself - should do more of that. Take the opportunity to sketch things, experiment, and draw everything. Obviously some people are extremely talented, but aside from that I believe this thing just takes practice. Or perhaps.. so I hope, haha.

Shame to hear about your time - good luck. Last designs are nice. Different character types, for each gender. I believe interesting details are the pants/boots (top-left figure), and the legwear of the bottom left pose. Perhaps what these have in common is the combined use of different material.
Not sure about the pouches (middle row, male). Pouches are always tricky.. and controversial, Haha.

Hi Anders, glad you're still around and sorry you didn't have any time off that sucks, at least you can study and draw full time when you go back though ...I work full time and it would be lovely sunshine all week then come friday it would piss it down! (lovely british summers sigh)

Really like your characters, you can tell what era/fantasy genre they belong to, I agree about the pouches as well, they are bit distracting. Maybe a red sash or something instead?

    Thanks for the comments guys

The concept behind the middle figure was that of an alchemist that would mix potions on the go, and as such needed a lot of storage for ingredients.

zou, oldschool low-bit game characters were a deliberate inspiration, good to see it shows

Nice updates Hai. Good, well thought out costumes I came across this article the other day: http://www.gamecareerguide.com/featu...0/gard_pfv.htm

Might be of interest to you as well, it's got alot of good points to consider when designing characters for games, though of course you can apply that to any field really.

Thanks Delphie, trying to kick it up as much as I can You might see a retouched one, but I'm not planning anything at the moment. Just working on whatever I feel like when the inspiration hits me.

Thanks for the great link, Angela. Good stuff!

Yes, the pelvis area looks a bit wonky.
    Nice figures nonetheless.

Thanks a la bapsi and BlackDelphin. What exactly is it about the pelvis though? Are you talking about a specific drawing, the entire last post, or all my drawings? Is the pelvis too wide, narrow, short, stretched? Is there something wrong with how the legs fit into it? Or how it connects to the upper body?

Here are some faces. Elves top, Orcs bottom.
Edit: haha, you can totally see that I started out top-left without warming up

the pelvises in most of your drawings lack form.
Something as simple as a cube construction on that part of the figures may help, though some in depth study of that anatomy can't hurt too.

Ah, I see. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll try to keep it in mind. See if I can get some studies done too.

    NIIIICE

On the pelvises; They're generally as wide as the chest but less 'long'. As far as I know, they're slightly less deep as well. Useful to know if you imagine them as a 3d box (or even draw them in your sketch). Some of yours are on the short side if you measure them up between iliac crest and crotch (last two in #487). Last ones are distinctly better though. So I may already be royally late with this bit of advice.

Characters are nice. Like the one in #493 since you've covered almost all of the body with a suit of armor without losing too much of the female form. Also a nice exercise in 'blind' anatomy drawing.

Lines are just definition though, throw in some tone/value! Show form!

Also, nothing you can share about the work? Doing freelance? internship?

    Thanks guys!

Anthis, I guess I can say it's a project done for a company, through school. So it's part of my bachelor, but it's still a serious project, as illustrated by the NDA.

EDIT: Haha, where did the upper arm of the last character go? Wow, quite the oversight. Luckily it's still so far from finished. Bad balance too.
