    Dormant Walkers of Velvet Footsteps.

I have taken too long to do this picture, as I am lazy and often think that lying around is much more productive than actually working. But it is now done, and I can continue something.

Well my bandwith was eaten, so I will have to wait a bit before putting this up again.

I've never seen a piece of yours with this level of finish, either on eatpoo or here. This is...amazing and disturbing. This is amazingly disturbing.

    The sky is particularly stunning.

I have NO effing clue what's going on in the picture, but I don't want to be there.

The figure kneeling on the 'god' gets a little lost amongst all those grotesque folds of flesh.

I like how the sky runs the gamut of the spectrum from left to right. I'd like to have explained how duality is expressed throughout the other areas.

...I love his little shoes.. or hers.. not sure what "it" is..

those tree trunk horns.. and his crown or tiara.. (sp)

    bloody roses... wicked!

whats Leonard think? he see it yet?

I think the girl to the front seems either not enough rendered or not enough out of focus... she is almost distracting.. in a way.. She takes up so much of the screen and presents a focal point.. but the only thing interesting is the ribbons on her hat... Thats my only crit.. Love the sky too! great colors!

You gonna be at e3? if so see you there..

    peace.

Brilliant. Its on my desktop and on my mind, I'll have to try taking longer to polish up my own work more.

This is the most interesting image I've seen for a while.

Amazing work! That sky is stunning. the atmosphere i think is superb. The characters could use a slight bit of definition here and there but I must say its a wonderful piece.

    Great stuff man.. brilliant colors
I really like the two maggot like protrusions on the lower body, and the highlights off the lower foot and leg.

What inspired you on this one?

Man, this is mind-blowing. This piece harbors a grotesque ethereal mood that both attracts and repulses. This is an amazing piece. If you're inclined to invest more time into it, I would consider Gloklund suggestion about enhancing some of the characters definition. However, this is just a lightweight crit. Again, wonderful work. You soar on skill and subject matter. What a world you live in!

That is totally awesome. One small crit, the figures looks a little flat compared to the rest of the painting, especially the girl in the foreground. But that is incredible, the goddess? is amazing.

A fantastic vision. The girls are a little distractingly fuzzy, but otherwise a fantastic vision.

    Thank you all very much!

    Now, for some replies:

Blackhand: Thank you much sir! There isn't really a backstory to the image, as it was just how I felt one day. Some points that I wanted to emphasize and choices that I made were depending on the feel that I wanted to give. Especially on the "beast". I chose some things that I thought would add to his horrific nature (silkworm-esque legs, the baby hands by his mouth, his bulging eyes, rows of teeth, etc.) and to show just how feeble he really is. Hence the disfunctionality of all his parts. Separately they would be glorious, maybe, but together they do nothing for him.

And yes, the figure does get lost in the folds of flesh. Compositionally I didn't set up this image very well, because for whatever reason, I never think about things that way, and in the end it hurts the image. I am making efforts to correct this and hopefully soon I will be able to work more cohesively.

Like I said before, there isn't any real meaning to the picture aside from how I felt. So I couldn't really explain any other dualities. I'm always fond of beauty coupled with disgust though, so maybe it was a subconscious decision to do that here.

    Deth Jester:

Haha, thanks. I did show it to Leon, but he didn't seem to say much. Everyone has varying tastes I guess.

Yeah, I had problems with the girl in the front, and for fear of over-rendering I may have under-rendered it. But, I learned, and I will move on, hopefully. O_O

    Ink: Please don't hate me!!

Glokund: Thank you! Yeah, I have problems with proportions and anatomy, mainly because I learned how to do them incorrectly. So now I am making efforts to correct this, but right now I am still unsure. That could probably account for the lacking definition in the figures.

Kambei: Thank you! Read my response to blackhand's post, and hopefully that will answer your question about what inspired me. If not, I will do my best to answer again.

danielh68: Hahah, thank you. I will more than like, not work on this picture anymore. I was more than halftempted, about halfway through it, to not even finish it. So, I will take what I messed up on this and use that as a learning incentive for future pictures.

Elwood: Hahah thank you, but I'm not so much a pro as you would think. And even if I were that doesn't mean your opinion is invalid. Sometimes you can learn the most valuable things from just listening to what people have to say. And in this case you may be right, as others have mentioned the same thing.

Dodge: Hahah, thanks to Mr. Manley I do have a job in the industry. I still feel sort of inept though.

    Thank you all again!!
