An Evening with Blue Sky Studios
Contemporary big studio animation is an amazing collaboration of diverse talents. One of the important cogs in the middle is the storyboard artist. Bill Frake is such an artist, as well as having diverse training in layout, staging and camera mechanics. He will explain how it's done at BLUE SKY STUDIOS in White Plains, New York from the use of pencil drawn character development through clay model making to digital photography and then the art of storyboarding. The Blue Sky Studio is a true team effort and has been an important new outlet for the creative mind of today's top illustrators including Peter deSève, Greg Couch and William Joyce. Among the many projects that Blue Sky Studios has developed are: Robots; Ice Age, Ice Age 2, and its trailer Scrat; as well as Gone Nutty, the Oscar animated short nominee. Bill also created storyboards at Walt Disney (Roger Rabbit, Pocahontas and Hercules) and Warner Bros. (Iron Giant). He has been involved in numerous Emmy winning projects personally receiving three for his work in the field. He also has a Clio to his name.
