    Where do Custom Brushes Go?

    Hello all,
I recently made some rather interesting brushes in painter based on some ink splashes, and brick textures, and wanted to share them here. BUT, even though I have saved the brushes, and put them in a new category, which is saved in Painter, if I go into Painter's Brush folder, they're nowhere to be found. Any ideas on how to either export them, or where they could be saving to? Thanks.

I suppose you could try in here...

    [drive]\Documents and Settings\YOU\Application Data\Corel\Painter IX\Brushes

You might find that painter stores all your custom made stuff [brushes, colour sets & user interface changes etc] somewhere in that directory tree structure.

    Hope that works for you.

Yeah, I've searched in there and couldn't find anything. I even did a search on my computer for the names of the brushes to no avail. I wasn't sure if it saved custom stuff by a default name or something else I should look for. Its so odd...I can't find the brushes anywhere on my computer, yet when I open painter, they're there...ah...the magic of technology.

There are two places for brushes in Painter IX...

    Quote..from Tips, by Jin....
The Painter IX Application folder is read only, so Painter IX stores custom settings and custom files in the User folder. You'll find your custom brush variant in the appropriate brush library located here:

    Windows - /Documents and Settings/[User Name]/Application Data/Corel/Painter IX/Brushes

Yes, you did provide the right location for custom Painter IX brush folders and files, Hyperion.

Goldcoin and anyone else reading this,

I prefer not to be quoted anywhere, any time without having first been asked and having given my OK to quote me in a specific place only and at a specific time only.

One reason is that information changes frequently and it can quickly become outdated.

If you can't explain things in your own words using your own understanding and want to refer to a post I've made, just insert the URL into your message. That way, at least my older post is dated and if it now contains inaccurate, no longer current information, at least no one gave the impression it was up to date info.

    Thanks,

    Jinny
