sushi-ya have chef recommended specials. you must ask "Taisho! What do you recommend?" and you will be told what they are because some menu items are illegal you will not discover them unless you ask.

Hamsta - like the colors you choose - they create nice mood
nice composition and the way you build your pict
imo - you should practise linework (you rather avoid using it), but in this toodays work it's no need to use linework, it looks good the way it is.

btw - I spend nice time watching your reference film

wow much inspiration in this thread, lots of different styles.
I like everybodys take on this. Aga..cool shit.

cashin: nice colorpalette..try to maybe get more unity in your piece-->color/forms..but as a sketch it's definately working!

that last one is great too MonkeYoakum-->dope colors. Did you use red on that one?

Cashin Why did you remove the crit? do you not want me to crit you? You are right about the anatomy, with the hands in particular.

Aga Hah, and it's passover, very relevent to us Jews Good idea, nice and simple, stylization works well (except for the bellybutton which bothers me immensly ) Some of it might be a little too "vectorish" and clean, but no biggie

I think what you're seeing that 's bugging you is th eperpective change in the head. At that angle the eye in the back would be farthur forward and smaller if you could see it at all. the eye in front is a side view and the eye in back is more top view. It give it a rather "off kilter " look in the head. The drawing style is excellet and carries the humour of the situation beautifully
note: all the education in the world can't replace a good "eye" for whats wrong and you have that

cashin - you really captured the aligators skintexture and colors.
Hamsta - I really liked yours the colors they work really well and it has a great indoor feel to it.

I wish I had time for theese, but after April 15th, I ought to.

Cahsin Great feel to this, it just feels complete, hard to say why. Lot's of character to the alligator, and it's untypical behaviour of eating strawberries.
However, as you probably realise your self, it's not perfect - very long neck, the hand resting on the table is a bit wierd, with the pinky especially, the perspective with the table is off, and I think someone mentioned those eyeridges. I'll be expecting more from you on future DSGs, k?
    Lingmerth Thx

Ugh, I gotta remember to look at the numbers on these things. I hate that, in this particular forum, threads get bumped.

Ah well, I figured I should do something other than play WoW, and this topic was at the top. Sorry for replying to an old thread. I'll pay more attention next time.

    hey
you can draw what ever you like.....we keep adding to them till we get bored of them.
sometimes on a slow day we go back and pick up the ones we missed and sometimes that inspires a whole new round of ideas.. this thread appears to be about creation, and learning , not strict schedules a deadlines.
I, for one will gladly look at what ever anyone putts up..even if it's "day" is passed.
Now couple of crits.... the table appears to engulf the critter perspective prob), and the surface of the turkey is way more slick than any thing else d the back ground is sketchy...at best( no back ground is better than a sloppy one.......love the monocle and the lacy doily.. the skin texture on the head is good. but it falls off on the hands..and the right hand? um.....
ok ... not being harsh really.... if it didn't have potential I wouldn't bother to say anything....and Drawing is always better than playing WoW... really and.... Oh shit
I just looked at your gladiatorial status, you've been around a lot longer than I have and probably think Im a hopeless pipsqueak and to be ignored...ok

Haha, thanks chaos, all completely valid crits. Honestly, there was little to no thought put into it. I figured it's the daily "sketch" group, so..yeah. But you're completely right about every place where it falls short. I spent probably an hour and a half doodling on it. Either way it got me to dig up some google ref and play around some more. I must smack myself into shape again, so hopefully I'll participate more often. Gosh, last DSG I did was in the 250's! lol.

    Thanks for the crits.

I kind of disagree with you on this one. In this case I really think the background (although hastly done) really adds to this picture. It not only balances it out, it sets the scenery, and thereby helps to set the mood.

If backgrounds are too detailed they sometimes draw attention away from the intended focus point.

Wheather a sloppy background is better then not having one, I think vary from picture to picture

yeah true.. But I hate to see one thrust in as an after thought
The background should be concidered and integrated into the piece. at the beginning. In most computer painting programs it seem that retro fitting with background is easy and common. but I think this can lead to a disintgration of layout and color composition. just something to watch for I guess.
