I guess it's a bit odd...but there is really only one entry that meets the challenge. I guess it would have been boring if ION made a challenge and when no one met it he just posted a poll with his entry...

Ah well, guess it's obvious that ION got my vote.

Like I said previously, I do like the work everyone submitted.

Thanks for the vote ION. Mad props to ya for gettin' both concepts done, I'm sure the rest of us feel like lame-o's. Maybe down the road I'll tackle a villian as well, just got swamped with deadlines. This was a very fun 'dome and it seems we got a great turnout. Thanks for the votes and/or compliments from everyone. I'm glad folks digged my piece. I'm still deciding myself on who to vote for, it's a toughy.

Chuckmate - I dig the finished look on your piece, it definately gets that cyber feel. I would've cropped your piece down for presentation sake (that's probably too picky). I'm not sure about the pink myself, but in a way I guess it could work. Also, I feel that even though the title is mega MAN, I feel that a boyish face always gave him some sort of admirable factor and helped us realate to him more as kids, so I would've wanted that to stay with him. But, overall, nicely rendered piece.

Mecha hate chimp- I like the presentation and logo work. You definately made a good effort in selling this. The overall look is very nice, too, but it reminds me too much of an older steamboy. I would want more "megaman"-ish features to come through. I think this is great, but it could be pushed more. But this one grabbed me when I first saw it, you definately have that going for you. Nice job.

Noiion- I'm glad you took the cyberpunk theme. It definately fits the genre. The face is the only thing that bothers me, and that might partially be what I said earlier to Chuckmate, but still the structure is lacking a little and it comes off too distorted. Still, the suite is pretty sweet.

ION - What can I say man, great job. I think that the votes show the applause your getting on bringing the concept home. I love the idea behind your megaman. The hat is pretty sweet, along with clothing style. only crit I would have is the paint job seems a bit under developed. But, the important thing is that it still communicates well. I like what you did with the villians face peering in the glass, aswell. Overall, good stuff.

Hookswords- I like where you were going with the dynamic in the character sketch. I'm not quite sure which villian this is, but that's probably a reflection on my lack of knowledge on the vast amount of villians that are in the megaman universe. I think this piece could have been push a bit more to compete with some of the others, but it works.

Nordmark - Interesting choice on his style of clothing. I'm not sure if its quite there to fit the steampunk genre, but its definately a different approach and fresh. I would say it seems a little under developed overall, but if pushed a bit more, it could be something nice.

There's a $ .02 everyone. I hope something I said was helpful and encouraging. I glad we had a nice turnout. If we had all gotten villians in, I'm sure it would have been a treat, but this still was a good thunderdome. Bravo.

however I think that either Mecha hate chimp or Mr. Visions would have gotten my vote on design, sticking to the guidelines of the topic steam punk/cyber punk and overall presentation though i wish Mr. Visions was colored and finished rather than just line work but still VERY nice work.

Mecha Hate Chimp - overall i loved the anime-like cell shaded color job and the retro cyber punk design, it's kind of low key but really feels like a new take and professional design. Nice job man

edit: just looked up some references, MechaHC I'm guessing this was Heavily influenced by SteamBoy ?

    Hey Mike,

Definitely. I used the same color palette as the cell shading used in Steamboy and tried to keep the look the same, although I was shooting more for a old GIJoe animated look.... dont ask. About the only difference is the backpack and arm shooter thingy which didnt come out very good perspective wise and my pen lines are sucking a bit. Definitely feels a little halfassed to me and overall not my best work but oh well. Thanks for the compliment, its greatly appreciated. - J

    Mike,

Thanks for the crit, and you made alot of good points. I wish I had colored it as well, but with this challenge being so close to finals, I had to get what I had in. I definately learned a good bit in performance from this dome, and again I apologise for not geting a villian finished, it was somewhat unfair, especially to ION. Next time we have a 'dome, I hope not to come up short.

well, since i asked ION not to take mine to poll (since mine is A - not finished and B - not even remotely Cyberpunk nor Steampunk design.) i was kinda surprised to see it in here after all.

so 10x for any comments / crits people
but my entry clrealy does not belong here.
