    from ref?
i'd say you have a good start.
Maybe try and smooth your gradients more? they seem kinda harsh.
and just keep working on defining your shapes with shadow!

Hey thanks for the comments. i know its not that great. yes its drawn froma picture reference. prolly a 45 min drawin so its nothing that great.

    heres another.

It seems to me that im drawing every girl fatter than the original picture. I did this with only those 6 colors so it looks extremely darker than the original.

    thanks again.

I think you should look at some tutorials of the proportions of the face, her eyes are very large and high, and she kinda has a cone-head thing happening. it's better to get your shapes accurate before worrying about tonal pattern

Oh, you need to LOOK more!
And read up some tips on how to get the basic face structure sketched (they are all around, just look for some!). Now, for example, you have drawn your eyes where your forehead pretty much should be. The eyes are normally around at the middle of the heads lenght from chin to the top of the skull. All in all, you are giving the face too much space, and the rest of the head too little. Be more careful with the proportions.

All of the previous posts have hinted at the problem here. In order for you to improve your technical skills you must first develope your observational skills. First of all, contour is a very difficult method to master. Objects are not made of lines, they are volumous shapes with light and shadow. Try to focus on creating large shapes of light and dark instead of using just lines. You may want to take a piece of graphite or charcoal and turn it on its side to get a larger line. I think your digital painting is more successful because there is a sense of volume and structure. You're on the right track. Just keep practicing.

Thanks for the critiques(sp?) my shapes and figures arent up to par so i keep drawing them hopin to get better.

    heres the latest

This is a 10 min self portrait that turned into a 30 min self portrait and it still doesnt look right cuz i was looking down and drawin it so my chin sticks out and i look like a conehead.
