Those figure drawings are amazing, what do you use? Looks like charcoal to me.
Kumori - You are right, they are all charcoals....except the first one which is ink and the girls with the black skirt and hat....which I did in Charcoal and sharpie.
Ohjay and Katsgod - Thanks =)
Dude, your figure drawings are proper good.
do you have any more drawings with something other than charcoal? cos the high contrast one is really striking.
Fantastic figure drawings! Looking forward to more. Also, if it hasn't been said, welcome to CA!

kaykizi - I do but they aren't that good, the high contrast one was done in a class called "drawing concept" and it's really experimental...so sometimes the drawings look like an abstract piece =)
Cup of Joe - Thanks, actually I've been on CA for years now, I just switched my SN.
Here are some pages from my Sketchbook.....I still need to work on drawing from my head.

Nice lines josh. I really like that very first pic you posted and that bowl of food in this last post. Those life drawings are pretty kickin' too, except sometimes the faces don't look quite as good as the bodies do. Anyway, keep it up man.
dude, this stuff has jumped way forward from the last time I saw your book at the diner! congrats on the progress and I'm happy to see you posting again.

Sith - Yea I really suck at the face and it wasn't until recently that I can actually to get it to read somewhat like a face and not too cartoonish. Most of the drawings with more than one figure on the page are 2-7 min poses so I'm still not comfortable about drawing a face in that short of a time. Though I should really just put in a nose and mouth for indication.
BWK - Hey thanks, I looked through your book and you got some sick drawings in there. It's also good to see the sketchbook group still going. When I vist CT again, I'll try to go to the diner more =)
Here are some HIGHLY experimental drawings for my drawing concept class.
They were a blast to do since we didn't have to do a sargent like portrait.
And some 10-20's from the workshop

more nice images, great torso twists in the life drawings. your SP's have a good likeness even tho they're charicatured.
you're definitely welcome to stop by the diner any Wednesday night you're in town!

OI! Let me second what Brendan wrote. Really it's really incredible to see what you were doing with the grey markers and contrast that to what you are doing now. Leaps and Bounds man...leaps and bounds. Keep up this great work. You're in the siggy by the way. Cheers!
Nice work dude!
like your line work. but your charcoal figure studies are looking good too.
keep it up

Thanks for the comments but I got a long ways to go and my concept stuff sucks especially anything ID haha......Here's a small update since there is a lot of classwork to do for the finals, feel free to critic

Bro this shit is ON FIRE! In the self portrait your right arm (from our Pov) is a bit wonky..doesn't have that solidity of an arm..and the fingers might be a touch off. But otherwise...really diggin all of this. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, yea it's weird from the photo when something is forshortened so that right arm was giving me trouble. I agree with the fingers I think it is too thin or something.
great work...do you do anything but the human form?
Nail Bunny- I do some creature design but yea mostly I draw figures.....and my ID skill is next to none.
Some anatomy issues with this one but the point was to get a lot of texture on the page....

Really nice figure drawings. Keep up the good work
keep it up, man, the work from life is really good. the concept stuff will get there, I have no worries. to push it along, do reference study warm-ups, then do a concept that uses reference as a stepping-stool to where you want it to go. (not every concept artist works without ref)
