INERTIA • electric trains & industrial decay

thanks to a province-wide faculty strike, i'm getting back on the horse.

this sketchbook will feature both finished technical illustrations and sketches of various subject matter. looking for constructive feeback.

start it off with a recent cutaway illustration of a bombardier q400, featuring a pratt-whitney 150a powerplant. lots of research done for this one.

    enjoy the thread.

    very nice.

wouldn't there be safety issues having the wheels located under the engines like that though?

prince: i sure hope not... actually, having landing gear within the engine nacelle isn't that uncommon amongst turboprop commuters like the q400.

most of these images are assembled from various bits of photo reference... take a smokestack from here and add pipes from there...

Not as successful as the other ones, but here it is anyway.

I'm up for joining a sketchbook group, if anyone's interested.

I like that last one, though you might want to practice straighter lines. In some parts (That are arguabley difficult looking) the perspective is a bit off.

    two minute gestures

    ten minute

    twenty minute

we'll be doing this again next week. hopefully with slightly longer paintings as i'm pretty slow and would like to throw some colour down. i'll probably work one of these up if i have time...

What's up Provost? I'm surprised more people haven't posted in here (it's probably because of the lack of naked women and swords and whatever). Anyway, you've got some really nice stuff. I like that very first thing you posted, very professional. In fact, you are one- aren't you?

sith: Thanks! I've still got one more year as a student of technical illustration, though this summer I'll be working for the Toronto Transit Commission doing illustrations (mostly lineart) of things like streetcars, subways, escalators and who knows what else.

I'll get on the swords and naked women soon enough! Cheers.

These were really cool to look at. They are all nicely done. There is something that botheres me on the bus train piece, some perspective on some of the objects look wierd and some parts of hte bus look ambigious. Keep posting more.

The last pic is awesome. I'd really like to see more. I would want to say something nice, because I really like your pics, but the words just aren't coming to me, I suck at reviewing. Good job thought.
