i was going for an egyptian character portrait--and i think it feels egyptian, and im pretty happy with it, but some small little monkey on my back is telling me it still needs something more. maybe some jewelry or a headdress or somn. what do you guy think--is the design good enough?

    feedback appreciated---ty

Well, thematically, I think you nailed the Egyptian look. This character looks more like a servant or something, though, so I think the reduced accessories is fine.

The treatment around the eyes is nice.

Yeah, just tighten this up and you're good to go.

the only thing i wanted to say is that the 'tattoos' on his skin are frikkin awesome. they looked like they're bleached in, or otherwise very 'sunlike'. totally unique look, i like it.

it seems like his head might a tiny too small for him, but then again I have a big head :-)

If there's confusion if he's upper class or not, you can easily give him the commonknowledged 'cross armed appearance'

oh yea, those golden tatoos are THE SHIT. And I agrees it definitely needs something... Whatever that Thing is, it assuredly must go in the neagative space around him... Maybe some sort of ornamentation like a peacock tail thing coming off of his back? Or maybe a background, not something idyllic though, something with lots of people working in the sun; maybe a river, harvesting, or construction scene.

Actually, having the broad, loose brushstrokes is fine, Ty. I think what detracts from that is you have some really fine strokes, like in the deltoid and a few random areas. It just looks like you were scribbling with a pen in some places instead of a brush.

It might just be me, but that makes it look a bit unfinished.

What I do like is the energy and looseness and how you've defined a lot of the forms with lighting and value.
