can someone point me to a perspective drawing tutorial??

Hi,
I could use a nice tut on how do do proper perspective...

I mean.. probably even straight up basics! like I'm not bad at perspective,
don't get me wrong, it's just that I've been prettymuch eyeballing it for my entire artistic lifetime.

Would be nice to see how it's "meant" to be done.. ?

thanks, but it's not the basic perspective i'm really looking for..

I might look into the perspective book he recommends though!

I'd go to the local library and review what's available to you. The likelihood is that you'll find alot more in a book. It's a complex subject and probably not one that will be thoroughly covered on a website.

"Sucsessful drawing" by Andrew Loomis has some good info on basic perspective. Search around the site and you'll find some links. I think there is a thread in the longue called "loomis no more" or something like that.'

If you want to dig more deeply you might take a look at The Elements of Perspective (John Ruskin, 1859) on the Making of America site. Here's the link to the title page:

Sorry for the obscure link - the book is an unlisted extra in the 1876 edition of Ruskin's Elements of Drawing (also well worth a read). Don't assume from the "arranged for the use of schools" bit that it will be too basic - the Perspective book takes a very systematic geometrical approach. There are any number of more easy going books around today - just try this one if you want to really understand perspective from first principles.

I recommend books too as you dont have to waste printer ink and also you can carry it around with you, say, reading it while travelling by train/bus.

Hi, I'm new so I might not be the best to recommend until I get a better feel for this forum, but...I've gone on to ezinearticles.com and typed how to draw in the search forum on the left and it brings up articles from perspective to contour drawing to how to get a concept contract etc. Just a thought.

i do have the book "How to draw comics the marvel way" if permitted (and only IF PERMITTED) i can upload it to rapidshare so others may download it from there. it does have some pretty basic perspective things.
