I like the stuff you make, and it seems that when you feel like it's beginning to go wrong you stop...
The reptile kind of skin suits you well to draw i see, only on the digital drawing the reptile seems to have a lump, I don't if it should look like that, so don't get angry.

Yeah there is supposed to be a lump on his head it's doesn't show on some front veiws of the pencils, only on early side veiw sketches.

For your sketches, you need to think about a considerably higher range of values. Pushing the contrast in your creations will bring it to a whole new level. Anatomy seems to be a bit of an issue, as some of your characters seem to have unintentionally exaggurated body parts (shoulders too wide, or too high, arms too short or too long, etc). Try making a couple of posts showing just one character per page, with a considerable amount of effort put into each one, in addition to your dumps.

Sepulverture-Thanks for the advice my anatomy lacks in areas mostly cause I don't draw from life often enough so I'm doing some from Hogarth ref and other photos.

hey, "inofficial sketchmate"!

thanks for visiting my book, so let me return the favour: there's a lot going on here and i really like that. your pencils show a huge love for details and some skills, but (like said before) some of them are missing a bit of values, so it's hard to focus. but i like your monsters a lot and the studies for their arms and legs on the "torn paper" and the following.
hogarth studies looking good, except for the sitting one, but i guess you have noticed that... your last sketch page is my favourite, because it shows that you worked on everything that was mentioned before. great book so far, looking forward to see more of you!

Hi and welcome to SSG 20! I like your digital paintings of the two faces. But it seams to me that the most of your sketches are made from photos or reference book. Try to draw as well from life.

Hey Nii, I just wanted to comment on the amount of energy you are showing here man you've attempting it all, color graphite you name it great energy. I really like the faces you painted from photo reference. Like Ivan said try to draw from life, if you cannot take a class try drawing friends and family make them pose for you.

regarding your national geographic paint study, if your goal was to merely use the references as a base from which to paint faces then i would say that you succeeded. the paintings are more a representation of what you think a face would look like, many of the values are off or just arent there and there is significant distortion to the forms.

Ivan.RCool> I tried to do studies of my family but they would'nt have any of it. My mum did'nt mind me while she was doing school work and the cats don't give a damn but they mave alot and I did'nt want to have just sketches of them sitting or sleeping.
ashrummG'day SSG buddy. Thank you for the kind words. I really want to get some life drawing classes. Too embarassedto draw people in public.
kyi_72I know. Could of tried better on the form. It's very hard to gauge the colour, especially on the lap top I'm using. Lap top LCD's are the worst.

hi mate!

i really like the cat sketches. you managed to get the movements really well. and i don't mind seeing a drawing of a sleeping cat...

the robots are cool, too. especially like the running one in the middle right...

yeah, i know the problem with being shy and not drawing in public. always admire the people here on the board that draw the persons surrounding them in the sub etc. guess some day we gotta get over that fear. guess, confidence comes with practise...

stine Thanks for the comments. I'm gonna see how many weird looks I can get drawing people at the mall or on the bus. I just think I'll get unwanted attention from passers by is why I dont draw people in public.
ashrummThanks Ash. That robot sketch was for the Clockwork Collosus CHOW activity but I didn't have time or motivation to do a final illustration.

Awesome i see some gesture work in there!! Your overall form has improved with just these few drawings. I especially like you head concepts very cool. And i know your weapons concepts are just quick gestures but reference your weapons so you can get a better idea on the general shape of weapons. Specifically your firearms. Nice update very cool keep it up!!!

hi there! very cool update. your lines are way looser than before which i personally like a lot. "mace mode" and the upper head design are my favourites. i really like that you choose dynamic poses to present your designs. huge improvement compared to your earlier sketches!

Your life drawings are looking real good, confident lines. Still keep in mind all your anatomy studies when doing life/public drawings. Nice concepts as well, i love that reptilian man! Nii for president!

ashrummThanks for the encouragement. Actually I did use weopon reff for the design but I'm still refining it aswell as trying to keep a minimal look and bone shape to it. In fact try and spot the refference I used it's somewhere in here, my sketchbook thread.

very cool update, you've been busy!

i especially like the leg studies on the third page, very precise, i think.
your "octonid spiderpus" ideas are great - lot of details and different approaches. are they just for fun or in a bigger context like a project or something. very cool! good to see you're working with different materials, too. looking forward to your netxt update!

Hey Nii, its good to see you again, nice update, I really like what i'm seeing here. You're a concept junky thats awesome, the more ideas your brain can manifest the better. Great imagination good leg studies as well. We should all post studies at least once a week, so we all can get better quicker in relation to anatomy. I like your last page the best, you're playing around with poses, very good i need to do tons more of that! Keep it up buddy and thanks a million for that link.

stine I have have been busy probably a little over excited even. I just draw cretures and such to add to my catalogue of designs I may find use for later and also for a personal project I'm working on so I can build a portfolio.

ashrumm Thanks no prob mate. I gotta do more detailed anatomy studies with shading and such.

hey there! great update again! the creature with the green background hs such a funny expression, like "hhmmmm, what am i gonna eat next?!". very cool. enjoying your samurai stuff as well - you handle the drapery really well. my favourite is the centered figure on your second marker page (the one showing us his back). very reduced and still perfectly readable... did you freeze frame the dvd or work in real time?

ashrummThanks. Yourguys are lucky to be having classes, me I sometimes work as a labourer for my cuzzy. Right now I'm unemployed looking for scholarships or grants to start a course.
Ivan.R Hey there! Well, I used these Swan paints that come in tablet form, just add water. My sis found them at my mums school where she teaches and let me have them, sucker.

Plan on doing studies from this Boris...(off to see how to spell that name)...Vallejo photography art book, from front to back cover. Heres the first.

This is really nice, you went straight for the torso very nice!! Nice rendering, my only problem is with the length of the right arm from shoulder to elbow it should be a bit longer. And on the bottom of the thigh in the foreground I don't think I would have put a bunch of tone to define the bottom of the thigh there. Its hard to see where it stops or starts. The Torso is excellent though chest, and abdomindal obliques are great good work.
