I don't know what I'm doing, really. I feel pretty miserable. I've been sick all day. I should be in bed, but I spent my time sketching.

For feeling miserable the top portrait is wonderful! The figure looks nice, I like the coloring you've used, but the neck does look a bit long - even for that angle it seems like the head got balanced on afterward, and isn't quite a part of the neck.

You could always sketch in bed until you fall asleep... =]

'And I just felt like putting this here.
I was dragged to a Christian Women's conference this weekend (it was like hell on earth), so I bought a few butterflies and took pictures of them and this is what I did with my time.
It was better quality, but I had to seriously reduce the filesize before Photobucket would even consider letting me upload it. Too bad. I'll get rid of it if anyone asks me to.

Hi there!

Really like your work.
The girl with the headphones looks really great although there is something with her left eye.
You have got a good range of subjects, which you still can increase.
I notice it currently at my own state, i was just drawing faces and loose characters but not really something like architecture or technical stuff.
So all i can say draw daily and finish stuff at least once a week.

Keep it on!

Tigermilk- Ha, thanks. I hate pencils because they smudge and I'd rather use tons of COLOUR, but line is good too. I'll have to remember (and will myself) to work with it more often.

Tie- Yeah. The younger you start, the more time you have to improve. lol. It's not Madonna. I was trying to render a face purely from my mind. Beautiful people all look the same.

Setmonkey- Thanks. I believe knowing how to use traditional media is essential to knowing how to work the digital stuff.

Newman- Thanks, man. Well, I certainly don't hope to remain stagnant in my skill level.

Xaya- I try to use as many mediums as possible and a wide range of subjects, though you won't see many tech things, machinery or environments from me. I REALLY need to figure out how to do that stuff. And hands. Hands are a beautiful curse!

Hello Kat. The butterfly movie was a nice touch. Do you believe in synchronicity, because I'm sorta starting to. It would be a good idea to do some more controlled studies, like athletes we art folks have to train our hand eye coordination "because it is through the reproduction of natural appearances and the knowledge of form and color derived from such study that the student will afterwards find the means of giving expression to his feelings." - Harold Speed, "The Practice and Science of Drawing".

I'm loving those traditional paintings! That whistler study is awesomely expressive! Keep working on your sketchbook work. The sketchbook is equally as important as digital work. And I know that art colleges want to see alot of traditional medium work in your portfolio. Anyway, keep it coming!

armando- Woah, getting a little cryptic there. I see where you're coming from with the more controlled studies thing, though. I 100% need to work on more things from live observation (photos just don't cut it!). The only thing synchronistic I see is that I own the same book by Mr. Harold Speed.

SprayNation- Thankyou. Yeah. The colleges are all about traditional work in the portfolios. I showed them a couple of digital things at Portfolio Day (between a ton of traditional work) in Baltimore last year and the only people it actually impressed were the Ringling folks. Cooper U absolutely hated me.

Asior- Yep. The Junior class does that Chuck Close-based assignment every year. This time it was my turn. I tried to make it less fragmented than Close's stuff, though.
