    New Person with his art.

Hi!!! I am new here. I am currently a student at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, my dream is to become a Concept Artist. Also, I am very inspired by the amazing artists on this board. Well, enough babbling, here is my art. CnC are more than welcome!!!!

This is a picture of Loki, one of the Three brothers for my Comic. done with a bic
pen, on my breaks at work.

This is me trying to draw some dragons, i was working on anatomy, which i am still horrible at on dragons.. hopefully in the years to come at school, i will get better.

This Be Cloud Strife from FFVII, I only put down the basic colors on him, i still need to add my shades and highlights and finish up the images.

Well, thats my art... please be gentle, lol... nah, on second thought just be honest,

    laterz,
    Maigo.

Hey show us some still life type of stuff if you have any and some original ideas. That way we can see how your mind works.

i would work on drawing still lifes, nudes, and anything from life. do some value scales in paint and pencils. stay away from digital. study perspective, color thoery and basci proportions and anatomy and youll be on your way. this board is a great place to start.

ps. drawing from the imigination is good but dont make the bulk of your art rehashed characters from other people. focus on drawing from life and perspective..etc in your early stages

    good luck

i concur with blue puppy. I knew the kid in High School and the only way we really improved is pretty much live, breath and eat anatomy and still life drawing.

More agreement with the above posts. Also, a little Andrew Loomis never hurt anybody.

    Thanks

Thank you, I realized this from one of my fellow students today, so i am going to pick up a book called "Drawing from the right side of the brain" and see where that gets me. My friend here, was gracious enough to give me one of his anatomy books, so here i go to study my arse off. I will post my real life dumps here.

thank you SO much for the comments, and Critiques.

in my honest opinion dont bother with "drawing from the right side of the brain" theres a ton of other books out there that can help you more

    2. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/048...lance&n=283155

    3. any bridgeman http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/048...lance&n=283155

    to name a few.

about your work , its not bad but its not good, i think thats the boat that alot of us are in around here, but u sure as hell arnt going to get any better if you just pick up and leave because you didnt get a response to your art.

lemme see some more stuff and i promise ill give you a more detailed crit.

Hehe we used "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" in one of my classes...and I liked it! Great to start, in my opinion, but I agree you can't stop there, there are so many other books out there that are very helpful.

I also agree that you need to seriously study anatomy, perspective, and all that jazz. Beware of drawing too much anime...it can warp your anatomical mind something awful if you are not careful, especially if you do that to start with. Don't be afraid to do full character drawings, (that means feet!) w/ backgrounds included. I put that off way too long and i am hurting for it.

    thanks again

Hey, thanks for the great references, i am going to go pick those books up hopefully within a week or two.

Right now in class we are doing Mosaic art... which means... Ripping off the paint samples at lowes.

thanks for all the great comments, i got some anatomy sketches in the works, and i will be scanning and posting them soon.

one question i had though, I noticed that a lot of the art on here is "CLEAN" like ungodly clean, no fuzzy particles you get when you scan I.E. my pics i posted, is there a technique to this?

Hm, when my stuff looks clean it's 'cuz I created it in Photoshop, hehe...no scanner to mess around with there!

There is, however, a technique to scanning in stuff clean. I could take the time to explain it to you...but I'd probably much it up somewhere along the line (I have a crappy scenner so none of the techniques really apply...for now). Check out the member Alday.J's sketchbook. He's got a tutorial and all you need to know!

hey man, pretty good start. i'd like to see you try drawing from life because i really thind that will help you with your shading becasue teh stuff you have is either not shaded hardly at all or it it looking kind of flat. but the stuff you have is very interesting so keep it up!!
