Another self portrait for tonight. I wanted to do something different this time so I added a real picture that I found on google and I wanted to see if I could make it convincing that I'm in the picture, kinda like that painting that el coro and marko did, pigeon man.
Self portrait of me rocking out![]()
hey man really cool stuff. Your anatomy and color is very good. The cd cover turned out really nice and clean good job. I think for the paintover you did on the photo, maybe you could go over the statue with some kinda texture brush for more realism.
rock on.
A quick self portrait. Learning how to color.
Amazing stuff man... I love your pencil work. Very sharp and confident. That cd cover is effin tight too!One thing my digital genius friend always nags me about in my PS stuff is to sharpen the shading and really define the planes. Maybe a little contrast could improve it, particularily in the fore/background with the piles of dead things and clouds? Like how the clouds furthest back have that little extra sharp line of highlighting, really making them pop out. I know there's a ton of detail to work on though, and it looks 10 times better than anything I've done
Keep updating!

Praesagus-Thanks for the crit, much appreciated

Awesome stuff, i really like the cd cover the clouds and bird tornado really help set the mood. I was just wondering if that art test thing you did was for EA games, cause i had to do that test too, same idea and everything. i failed, :] but yours is way better than mine was. good luck with that.

TheGnoll-Thanks man, your encouragement gives me motive to draw a project I'm working on
cblainjones-You know what?...let's squeeze everyone and say it's for drawing reference, lol.
Here is some stuff that I worked on back when I was in Ritual (I've posted this in the employment area a while back, heh). Brian and Tony, I know you've already seen these, but for new fresh-eye artists, here you go. It was pretty cool working with Ritual and having to use Massive Black notes. Oh and this was done 2005.
Cheers,
Rob
sounds like a plan. Awesome Flesh/mech drawings by the way, you integrate the two very nicely.

Hey dude,
I went through your entire thread.
You make sketching look like sooo much fun. Very inspiring. Much of my work as of late is always so tight and focused on a specific goal. It was very
refreshing to check your work out.
Not a crit but more an observation and a personal opinion- You have an incredible range of style and applications here. My favourite pieces are the loose pencil sketches that turn into more sketch collaged composition stuff.
ie- that piece you did when you were inspired by Marko's intro or someth'n.
I like your raw colour sense- You tend to tighten up and loose me when you start giving your figures that (forgive me for quotations) "anime" flair. But that is just my humble opinion.
Keep up the great work.
Gangus
Gangus-I'm glad you like my stuff, I'm deeply honored.
I strongly agree with your opinion, I am indeed a strong anime fan and it was what I studied before I switched to concept design when I went to school, old habits die hard and some people don't like anime in the "Art world", lol. I don't really have a tight and focused goal of what my works will be so I will focus on my goals on a more higher level.
Thank you sir![]()
The Sound God
Hey Rob!
You're the lucky winner of 5 stars!
I just finished looking through your book here, I really like your ideas of combining photos with paint overs - definitely want to try that myself hehe, might be good for some great laughs at work too.
This one is my fav though: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1177229808
Keep up the great work and thanks for visiting my corner on CA!![]()
