DSG 1012: Sci-Fi: WEIRD STEAMING BALL OF TECHNOLOGY HAS TUNNELED THROUGH FOREST LIMBS

[ I also considered wording it as: "STEAMING BALL OF TECHNOLOGY HAS CARVED BROKEN TRAIL THROUGH FOREST" ]

[ I wasn't sure which was easier to understand. ]

[ Anyhow, this technological sphere is still there. ]

[ It might be hovering; It might be sitting in a bit of a crater. ]

[ To some degree, we will be able to see that it has smashed right through these trees. ]

    [ Tee hee. ]

Goran, real cool textures! Amazing turnaround time
Pritch, yours has nice lighting in the clearing area, maybe you should've thrown some rays on the sphere thingie too, and go into more detail.
Hope I'll have time to get some work in too.
    Cheers all

I don't know where this thing came from or why it's bouncing through the jungle, but it's scaring the shit out of all the animals, and it doesn't seem to be stopping.

hey everyone, this is my first attempt at a dsg; not that great at digital painting, but the practice in here will definitely help. hope to join in more to come, but here it is otherwise:

very nice stuff everyone; goran your's is beautiful as everyone's said, love how you got such textures and rendering on the snow and trees. Hamsta I like your approach to it, very cool idea.

I love the concept Hamsta. I wonder what it could be made of that would make it bounce like that?

    A breakdown? Why not.

goran - thats just nice to look at. How long did it take you? I don't know how everyone can see how long it took you. From what I've seen, your the most consistent artist in DSG.

hamsta - Like the approach. What I've noticed about your art is that it doesn't seem mature yet, theres always a loose end; but your concepts are genuine, try spicing things up with more detail in the backrounds. This is coming from someone who doesn't draw at all, so, if your offended, don't be. You live in Haifa? I went to Israel for a month last Summer.. hows the Gush Katif situation? I'm behind.

Very Bad Man - Colors seem out of place, but I'm feeling the sphere of detail you draw with, everything in the picture looks like its in a warp, which can have that effect. I think that a calmer environment and a raging ball - a contrast that you'd excel in judging from your stipulation, would prove a success.

20 - I felt your image was the most in control with todays topic. After the storm, trees are swaying in that direction, I can picture a forest with a tunnel of dirt, trees, and Earth debris behind it.. Ball was on-point too. My only complaint (is that possible?) is the grass; baby blue and light green mesh well together, maybe a foliage of gray or a wasteland ground would have turned out better in effect. Keep em' coming.

Liviu - Commendable, I can feel that heat. Maybe you could have taken off the light on the ball right next to the fire? Its not really needed for color since the flames overwhelm the scheme in that section. The character in the square window could be looking at something? A squirell on fire? Haha, nah.. something else could be added on that bumpy hill in the bottom left corner though. Enjoyed it.

faith4 - The ball looks wholesome, meeting the topic given efficiently, I don't particularly like the lavender-like color. It takes away from the image, someone would picture an iron, solid looking orb of a ball, the steam stays - no problem with that, just that another color would do wonders for it as a whole.

Stephan - Ouch.. do you always create huggable monsters? To the ball though - *Points an laughs* Ahahahaha..

More playing with mediums. In this case 12 year old washable markers and a red crayon that turned out to be a weird neon colour.

    and

They are small, but destructive nonetheless. Maybe not enough to splinter a tree in half, but enough to "tunel through forest limbs"

Oh, and anothger quick note. I was playing with an old technique/style I accidentally discovered when testing markers to see if they worked this summer on the first one. I got boarded of drawing squigglies so instead everytime I picked up a marker I would draw the next line/detail of a picture. It was fun So I was trying that again, but I didn't have as many colours

Appreciate the crit Vulgar, and its dead on. I ended up switching idea's after my initial ended too off topic close to completion. Originally, I was shooting for alien/advanced tech, and made the ball like a glass marble with glowing runes underneath its surface, but it felt too magical instead of technological. So instead of starting that part of the drawing over, I tried to ammend it, and thus I was left with this and all out of time.

If I get a chance for a rework, I'll probably reverse it, giving it dark plates and a glow from between them, so I can keep the background/lighting. Thanks again.
