Nice colors. I think the head looks fine because it's kind of foreshortened. I do think you should have used darker colors underneath so it looks more grounded, but i could be wrong. Keep it up, i can see you're improving![]()
heheh, yeah I guess I'm the only one who'll know that she has a 6 to 1 head instead of 8 to 1.

Looking good, nice color variations, yet value consistant. And as for proportions, it's hard to find someone who fits the 8 head canon, so I find people with real proportions more interesting to draw. Damn I hate color pencils, I was never able to produce something decent with them, so I admire this pieces a lot.
Keep them comig!! Oh, and I want to see your chow wip ;P
Yeah man, since I'm tall I've got an 8 to 1 figure, but I don't know too many other people that do. My figure drawing teacher at CSU kicks ass, and his pastel demo is the only thing that let me use colored pencils that way. Here's some more figures. One standing and one kneeling

Hey blue,
Really cool stuff there! I dig the colour pencil stuff. The ortho idea is interesting, but the digital colouring looks to be off for me - like the colours don't seem to be working together as nice as your oils do. Think it's the metal thing that's breaking the colour harmony.
Daily updates FTW!
I like em. When cross hatching with a pen, make sure the hatchwork follows the volume of the surface - bridgeman has lots of good examples of that. Keep it up.
an ortho I'm working on for SUH. We're trading creatue orthos to model.

hey ,
cool design ,but i think the colouring is a bit scribbly.
keep at it .james.

update on that, got to go do color studies, my digis are starting to get muddy.

That's one wicked critter you've got here!! I dig the idea, and I looks fun to model. Perhaps you are using the soft airbrush or smudging too much? Anyway, it feels really "meaty", specially the side view, fantastic so far.
Keep them coming!
thanks man, yeah too much airbrush. I was showing someone how to construct shapes with values, and doodled this.

Yo blue. That chow is looking good. I mentioned to fedezz that his composition was kind of boring, and i kind of feel the same way about yours. Try shifting it to the side or adding a more interesting angle. Can't wait to see it finished.
heh, yeah, got to work on comp. Screwed up the colors too, and the foreshortening on the leg. But it was fun.

hey , looks goodapart from the problems you mentioned im not quite sure what his power is ,can he make people explode on will or something? That would be cool

heh, all that shit talking and I think Fedezz kicked my ass. Thanks for the vote man.

Experimentation on the battlefield was running rampant. There were not only odd vehicle designs, but human experimentation as well. One of the most effective inventions was telekinetic enhancement. Unfortunately, the success rate of the experiment was 1 in 25, with disastrous explosions during the course of experimenation. The survivors became heroes to their comrades, able to kill without leaving the safety of the trench. These "Wizzards" were all destroyed in battle, or so the official report goes.

Besides what you mentioned, i think it turned out quite well. I do think your hand anatomy needs some studying, those hands look like they have no bones. Keep up the good work.
Hey severin, I really liked your entry. I love the freshness of the strokes and the painterly look. Man, I wish I knew when to stop renderingLove the idea and the approach. My only crit, apart from the already mentioned foreshortening of his left leg, is that his left hand could use a little touchup, fingers are looking all the same length and too regular. Color could be easily adjusted with a photo filter layer in PS. Oh, and maybe you went too far with the compression, the artifacts are killing the texture and strokes, I'd love to see it in better quality.
And thanks for the votes and comments on my entry, it really means a lot to me.
Thanks man, wish I deserved praise for the brushstroke quality, but it was more starting it the night before it was due that led to that. I'll incorporate the crits and try for the foreshortening. I'll get a better version up too. And now I hit the slump, wish you could do art without it. Some figure drawings I'm not really happy with, measurements off and all that. quick ones suck for line quality, and measurements off on the others, aargh.

hey ,
The first ones arms are to long , maybe do some antomy studies to refresh yourself. Try doing some in pen to improve your lines.

Ah the slump. I think proportions are the problem with those, like you said. Best way to get out of the slump is to keep drawing anyway![]()
Man, I hate slumps... but yes, the only thing that gets me thru, is drawing.
Some proportions are a bit off, but I don't see major problems. I really like that colored paper-pencil-white pencil combination, it really pops the volumes.
Keep it up man!
Hey man!
Slumps are damn annoying, I've been through about 2 or 3 since I've started my sketchbook.
What helps me is rereading fengs Q&A on CGtalk - http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=234608 . Feng's reply inregards to slump/artblock is pretty much "I don't have time for one, so I don't even think about them".
So yeah, it helps me to not think about them and just keep drawing. Yeah might turn out worse then usual, but then again I'm not making masterpieces other times either.
Well best of luck!![]()
thanks guys, I guess I'm just whining and making excuses. Got a sketchgroup started here, so forced me to go out and draw a bit. Here's some random shit, getting over my slump by letting the pencil wander. And then after screwing up proportions on the amazon (that's why there are no legs), yes, it is time for more studies.
You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell
Those are some awesome sketches. You did the right thing, letting the pencil wander is always fun. Looking forward to more sketches and proportion studies![]()
hey ,
i really like the fiorst and second one , develop them more ! THe anatomy looks off on both so yeh maybe time for some more studies.
keep on going .james

Nicely done. You usually use lots of white like that, i'd like to see you try including more darks and only using white for the highlights, just to mix it up a little. Anyway, awesome jobKeep up the good work.
cool idea man. More sketches that I've done over the past few days, I just post when I get a few together I guess. With the figure, ran out of tria marker, so switched to my darker alcohol marker and screwed it to heck. Then went back with white pastel to try to fix it.
