So here's a quick render of some building i had to do for my first modeling class. We haven't really got into textures or lighting yet. Next quarter there is a whole class just for that. Right now it sort of looks like toys. hehe.

You made that in 3DStudio Max ? Looking good, can't wait to see the textures...
great stuff. loving that last pencil. will looks great with ink. yeheee, modelling is fun! looks great too.
Penciler,
That last panel looks pretty good. I would love to see ink laid on those lines.
3D Modeling is so cool. You get the textures and lighting on that and it will be like: "WOW! That looks so cool!".
Keep up the great work!

good 3d work, i like it. I also enjoyed your anatomy work

I really like the comic page. Very nice storytelling going on, look forward to seeing it inked.
Comic looks cool man. How many pages is it gonna be? 3D stuff is hot too, I used to model a bit way back but it's been a while now... You're getting in to animation in 3D too?

penc? u alive? u sb is gonna go on life support soon, pal.
Wim: yes i made that in MAX. This is my first quarter using it. I'm not really sure if i like doing 3D stuff yet.
Richard M: I showed my stuff to a guy at Marvel and the first thing he asked me was "Do you want to be a penciler or an inker?". I said i wanted to be a penciler so he told me to set aside my inking for now and I've been instructed to take some time tightening up my pencils so that if another inker inks my work they will know exactly what i want. Basically he was saying that my pencils were to sloppy because i was inking my own work and i could decipher which pencil line to ink. I think he is right, however learning to ink has changed the way i approach my penciling. I understand better what the inkers need to know. So i'm glad i know it. Tightening it up should come quickly. (i'll probably ink them anyway cuz i just can't resist seeing those solid blacks!)

OBX: Thanks for checking on me pal! I'm still alive just not getting on the computer to much lately. Just finish midterms so here's a few updates from the front!
First off i thought u might like to see some color on the cover. As u can see it's very different than the way i'm doing the Egyptian thing(God i need to finish that too!!)
This is an ad i did for a sociology project. My report was on American comics vs. Manga. I did ALOT of research and found out some really interesting stuff about the history of American comics. If your interested i can send you the word file if you email me. I did this the night before class in like two hours. Which is why i got marked down for mispelling words. Use spell check....Arggg!!
Here is the rough pencils for page two of Mythica. My teacher liked how each panel kept forcing your eye downward. What he didn't notice, and i think is quite funny, is that the character is putting on his shirt in the second panel and doesn't have it on in the last. That's why they're the roughs i guess!!
This one i actually did last quarter but i thought you might like to see it since have haven't posted for shit.
That's all for now. I'm gonna go check out your stuff and shake my head in envy over your mad skills!!

very good comic works. and the coloring's also high..
stll, try to be more careful on those skull studies..their importance is huge..cheers
hey i like the tilted camera angle in the comic page. Why the same tilt on all 3 panels? And where's the lady!!?
Only that I would like to see you do personally is make the door more midieval looking. I would make the top round, and show seperate pieces of plank held together by 2 metal bars with big bolts. BUt that's just me w/o any research.
Finaly a update! I don't exactly know what your comic is about and what the setting is, so its hard to comment on anything, but I'll try anyway. The pic where he puts on his shirt, the shirt seem almost invisible. The muscles are too visible and I don't see any folds or a difference is shade and texture. For the rest, the drawings could use some more features to make thinks interesting. A white wall doesn't realy set the mood right.
Also remember that the good comic artists don't draw comics cuz its all they can, they are skilled in lots of stuff. I think its best to try many forms of arts before you start specialising, you might learn things that you can utilise in your comics where you didn't expect them.

Zhengpeng - Muscles too visible ?If that guy happens to work out a lot, it's quite possible for him to have really toned muscles (the rectus abdominis for example). You may have a point about the shirt, though...
Zhengpeng: thanks for the crits. this rough is done in quarter scale so it's only about 4 inches tall. I basically just get the form of everything down before i go to final pencils. I do think some folds in the shirt would help. The interiors are going to be black and white so i'm going for kind of a Frank Miller style.
I love those pencils![]()
Well thank you Kresh. I just finished the final pencils for page 2 so i'll try and scan that in today. Unfortunately, i'm not happy with the page above so i'm redoing some of it. Mainly the first two panels and then the scale of the whole thing. Drawing this stuff over and over and going back anf redoing stuff to fix mistakes seems to be helping me improve. Hopefully i can knock out another page today.
lol looks great. i love the vuloptuous nekid chicks with swords... it soo heavy metal.
Nice comic, and very clean lines as well. Now I'm really curious about that dragon outside the window...![]()
OBX: Thanks, i would love to do a heavy metal comic someday!
wim: thanks you, the lines you see now are just the roughs, i haven't posted any final pencil pages. Soon though!
For now i just have this rough i did for a two page spread

I like the layout! looks like its going to be a promising piece!
Here's a rough sketch of the top right background shot for the animation project. This shot will seem together on the right side of the Egyptian pic.

damn penciller thats awesome, shame i cant offer you a decent crit ><. Cant wait to see all this come together for youkeep it up!
Dude this last update looks real cool. How long does one of those take you? I know very little about comic art so I don't have any crits either... Can just it's looking hot. Good luck on your projects.

Flynn: Thanks man, i can't wait to see it finished myself.
Boogieman: I usually take a day to do a page, but thats because i do a thumbnail then a rough, then final pencils. Then if i ink it, that's probably another day or more. I'm not the greatest inker.
that last pencil rocks... penciler.... heh.
I like your pen work, penciler- which is kind of ironic.
Big bad wolfs alright, only thing I can see is something off about his neck. Perhaps its too long, or too stiff. Your comic work has some really nifty pencil work as well. Keep those updates coming.
(ps. totally agree with you on that American comic thing)
TUNAFISH SAMMICHES?!
Okay here's page one with some spot blacks. God i love seeing the final with the blacks on it. Now it's ready for word blurbs. I haven't really decided for sure but i think i may leave this a black and white book for now. What do u guys think?
