    Icon < O K T H I R T E E N > ------ >> April 18th Update

    Hello everyone,
I have been coming to this website for about 4 years now and words cannot express the inspiration that I draw from it. I am a graduate from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. Spent five years trying to figure out what it is I wanted to do and eventually ended up graduating with a degree in digital animation. Now I’m working as a Graphic Designer and all I want to do is draw. When I saw the photos of the Massive Black studio I knew I was in the wrong field.
I sit on this website and look at the amazing art that is being produced. Watching people’s sketchbooks progress farther than I ever thought possible. Now it’s my turn. I’m sick of watching. I need to be drawing. There is so much that I want to improve on, and things to learn how to do, and I’m not going to do that just watching, so here goes nothing.

I would especially like to thank everyone for the inspiration that they have given me over the years. Especially Jason Manley, Lung, MindCandyMan, Fredflickstone, Phuzion, Mermuse, insane visions, Gabriel (Gaboartpage).
    Cheers,
    -Yddob

These next couple were done using 3DS Max for my senior Thesis.

    More to come very soon!

Nice work, many of those are fantastically interesting. Your drawings show a great sense of design and perspective. I particularly like the car travelling down the road and the musician. I also love that tense hand (the one highlighted with chalk) it's snappy and energetic.

    Continue with the great work.

    Thank You! Thank You!

Revender & Anymale: Thank you very much for the encouragin words, they are much appreciated. Figure drawing has always been my passion, probably stems back to my days of collecting comics.

I have a lot of work ahead of me. I realized something the other day. I have been gradually been improving at drawing year after year. Well 2005 was my first year out of college, and I can honestly say that I didnt improve a bit. I barely even drew. I got into such a funk of Work, Eat, Sleep, Repeat. No more!
    Cheers,
    Yddob

    A Month!?!?!

Jeez it's amazing how time can get the best of ya! I knew I was slacking with this sketchbook, but a month?!? Has it really been a month. This will never happen again.

Before I get to my work does anyone know of a good scanner i can pick up for around $200-$300. I have been taking pics of my work with my digital camera and it's getting kind of old. Plus all of these sketches are on plain white paper, and it always comes our brown for some reason.

Thankfully it has been a very productive month. I found a local Detroit sketch group through my old college (CCS) which I have been attending, and I started on a painting that I've been procrastinating on.

If anyone knows of any sweet Acrylic or oil painting tutorials, I am all ears, I need all the help I can get. Started playing around with acrylics and realized that I don't know where to begin.

Here is a pencil sketch of the painting. It will be roughly 24" x 40" when it's done.

Here are my acrylic studies. A friend of mine told me that when mixing colors you are supposed to avoid white and black when possible, so I tried my best at it.

Here's some of my drawings from the sketch group. They vary from 5 min - 30 minute poses.

This is a random sketch I did the other night off the top of my head.
