Actually, they are showing the english versions in the evenings, followed by the subtitled versions overnight (or at least that's what they did with Spirited Away and Mononoke).

Ahhh well that's good. Nothing beats the original cast. I can't stand overdubs... in animation OR film. Maybe I'm just a snob. Probably.

Elwell-- that's what my wife told me, but when I tried to check in on their website, they only listed the american actors. I know we recorded one of more of them, but I haven't checked them yet.

the 19th, they also played whisper of the heart, along with totoro and porco rosso. WotH is a new favorite of mine.
But with these films, I don't even mind english dubbing. Because it's done so well. Patrick Stewart as Lord Yupa .

I agree... I think the English dubbing is very well done... Even the Porco Rosso dubbing which I hated at first is rapidly starting to grow on me... You guys have TCM there in Alberta?...

I kept getting a really bad cable feed. There's no point in watching it when I have the DVDs, anyway.

And why aren't they showing The Castle of Caligrosto? That's such a good film!

I'm bummed too. I love that movie. But I guess some is better than none and to call them "classics" sure makes me feel good. I got tired of people just calling them "cartoons" with a negative bent about them.

The way these "cartoons" are done is more about classic cinema than anything else.

The man is another Walt Disney. We need more like him. I hope to see many more of his works in the future.

Nausicaa is classic. His newer movies are better made, with stories that are easier for people to relate to, but nausicaa is one of those few fantasies that actually "works".
