DeviantART DOESN'T ALLOW HOTLINKING!! Upload DIRECTLY to conceptart.org instead!

OK, I'm going to say this ONE MORE TIME:
Even if you have a deviantart account, you still need to host your pictures somewhere else to post them here. Deviantart has code on their site that blocks remote linking (hotlinking) of images. You will see your images fine, because they are already in your cashe, but everyone else will get a red X, a blue ?, or nothing at all, and your thread will just fill up with posts saying "I can't see it."

use the attachment manager and upload images to conceptart.org directly. the attachment manager can be found below the text window of the reply or new thread sections of the site.

So um. Yeah, there are tons of n00bz0rz all over deviant art but the one to offset them all is here:

It's also a place that gives people who have been told for the last 20 years of their life that art is for losers a chance to gain some confidence and actually start believing in themselves and that they *can* improve...

Yes, a lot of irritating fangirling goes on there (and even more irritating hero-worshipping...), but I've made some wonderful friends over there who have really helped me improve by giving me great advice and most importantly lots and lots of constructive criticism. (I came here because someone at DA encouraged me to... possibly not what you'd expect, but true!)

There are some real hidden gems over at DA - yes, it's a shame that you have to wade through tonnes of badly drawn anime (in the main) to find it, but that is the joy of encouraging everyone to share, no matter what level they are at. And considering we all have to start somewhere, is that such a bad thing? Think back to when you (that's a collective you, btw!) first started drawing... when I remember how proud I was of some of the crap I have knocking around, I just want to die! And no doubt, in a few years time, I'll be looking back at what I'm doing now and think 'omg, what were you thinking?! That's rubbish! (Hopefully! I certainly don't want to be looking back and thinking 'za-zing! That's so good!'...)

Not to keep spamming this thread here, but We also encourage people to post, no matter what level they are at. Most of us don't judge people because "OMG they from DA!!!", but because they say "I'm new, go lightly" or "Don't crit too harshly," or, in one case I observed, "Don't bother asking me for requests(not COMISSIONS, he means for free), I got my hands full at the moment." And, most people who say that NEED more critisizm than they WANT. So many people have such low standards, this place just raises the bar. If some people are afraid to get better, then they aren't obligated to come here. If they aren't afraid, all the more welcome they are. While a shattered ego can be depressing, it's also healthier than leading a false life.

    amirite?

I think Winjer was joking by the way... being facetious(sp?). Don't take it personally =D

And yeah, everyone here knows there are jems. We have a DA related thread in the lounge every couple of weeks, and people always bring up the "diamonds in the rough" (Alot of which attend here as well.)
